Job description
Senior A&R Accountant
The Senior A&R Accountant plays a key role in supporting the A&R Manager to deliver on this, by owning a suite of process(s), and ensuring robust financial controls are in place for their specific process area(s). For example, Fixed Assets, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory control, month end consolidation and reporting etc.
This will involve playing a coaching and reviewing role over those parts of the processes supported by the A&R Accountants
As the new Finance Operating model is implemented, the Senior A&R Accountant will also play a pivotal role in driving process improvements and integration, this will involve working effectively with the broader finance and business teams
Accountabilities
Accountabilities are captured for all Senior A&R Accountants, activities and therefore objectives will be allocated across the team in an efficient manner
Ensure timely and accurate financial accounting, including judgements as required, in line with the client policy and prevailing accounting standards, for specific owned processes, eg Fixed Assets, Inventory, functional costs
Ensure all month and year end deliverables for owned processes are accurate and on time. For example, consolidation and preparation of the month end reporting, balance sheet reviews, journal approval, fixed asset ledger
Ensure efficient and effective financial controls are operated for owned processes, and support the improvement from developing to established maturity
Ensure all statutory accounting and supporting analysis is in place to ensure timely and accurate delivery of all statutory requirements for the client in accordance with relevant local and international requirements (e.g. IFRS, GAAP)
Ensure Create statutory accounts for all client entities in accordance with relevant local and international requirements (e.g. IFRS, GAAP)
Deliver all relevant local regulatory requirements (e.g. OTO, EITI, EUTD, SSB)
Support delivery of clear and efficient Year End and Interim audits, with clear ownership and auditor relationship for owned process areas
Advise on Accounting and Reporting matters, for example transactions such as acquisitions and disposals) to ensure they are accurately reflected in the accounting systems; or ad hoc technical accounting issues, supporting issue resolution
Identify and implement process improvements, challenge and enhance current processes and ways of working,
Competencies and Qualifications
Competencies
Strong financial and technical accounting skills and knowledge, experience with consolidation of a multi-currency Group based on IFRS
Strong Excel capability - experience of building / re-building models preferred
Demonstrable record of improving systems and processes
Flexible team player, culturally sensitive and able to adapt management style to accommodate different business environments.
Ability to pro-actively develop positive and highly effective working relationships, both internally and with third parties
Critical thinking and analytical skills to provide check and challenge to the business in their decision making in an effective and constructive manner
Ability to prioritise and delegate, working to tight deadlines
Flexible - capable of working on own initiative, but also demonstrating great teamwork, adaptability
Education
Qualified accountant or relevant accreditation
University degree
Work Experience
Experience of roles preparing, aggregating and challenging financial information;
Experience in dealing with varied stakeholders through matrix working;
Experiencing of working in a team with varied stakeholders;
Experience of SAP ERP preferred;
Certifications
Qualified Accountant (ACA, CA, ACCA, CIMA), or relevant accreditation
Mandatory Training required
Relevant CPD for Senior Finance role
