Job description

On behalf of our client, a household name and leading provider in the commercial and domestic markets, we are seeking a Grid Control Officer for their Commercial Operations team. This role would suit someone with an Engineering, Numerical or other appropriate level 5 (minimum) qualification or individuals with at least two years relevant work experience in an Engineering or Numerical environment.

This is a full time, permanent job opportunity based in the Greater Belfast area with free parking and a free bus. Reporting to the Asset Manager, the Grid Control Officer will work on a shift pattern to support the Gas Network Monitoring Department and includes a shift allowance.

The shifts will be as follows: 3 x 12hr day shifts (7am-7pm), 4 days off, 3 x 12hr night shifts (7pm-7am), 5 days off.

Duties:

* To facilitate the appropriate response to all emergency alarms.

* To act as a communications / information hub within the emergency response system.

* Liaise with members of the Grid Control officer team to ensure the seamless operation of the control and monitoring of the network.

* Provide assistance in administering the activities relating to the Operation and Maintenance of District and Commercial Governors.

* Design, costing and issuing of mains extension works (incl. New Build), based on site surveys carried out by Connections / Construction.

* Liaise with Operations / Transportation Services to co-ordinate the installation, monitoring and maintenance of all sites.

Criteria:

* An Engineering, Numerical or other appropriate level 5 (minimum) qualification such as HND, BTEC, Degree, etc. OR Alternatively, candidates with at least two years relevant work experience in an Engineering or Numerical environment will be considered.

* Good computer skills, with particular emphasis on the use of Excel, Access and Outlook.

* Good communication skills to include presentation skills, report writing, etc.

* Capable of working unsupervised and independently, but also as part of a multifunctional team.

* Punctual and reliable.

* Knowledge of Network Analysis, GIS, CAD and databases would be desirable.

The salary for the role starts at £18,500 annually, plus a 25% shift allowance (this works out as £385.42 a month)..
