Residential Probation Worker in Old Windsor - up to \u00A318.26\/h
Your new company
The National Probation Service across England is a statutory criminal justice service, mainly responsible for the supervision of offenders in the community and the provision of reports to the criminal courts to assist them in their sentencing duties. This role is based at the Manor Lodge Approved Premises in Old Windsor.
Your new role
As a residential probation worker, you will be working to keep the Approved Premises safe and secure for the members of staff and those currently living there. It requires a safety-based mindset while also being social and understanding towards those housed in the AP.
Some of the roles and duties below:
- Undertake regular inspections of the building, including cellars and grounds throughout the period of duty, recording any occurrences\/damage or defects, and monitor CCTV equipment
- Maintain an active presence and regularly engage with residents in a pro-social manner.
- Contribute towards the protection of residents such as assisting with risk assessments
- Ensure that the AP is locked and secure during curfew period. Confirm the presence and well-being of all residents overnight
- Supervise residents' meals
- Follow prescribed medication procedures including the issuing of medication to residents and both weekly and nightly audit of medication sheets
- Maintain hostel records and files as required, including data entry
- Deal with visitors and telephone calls, and monitor the work of visiting contractors in accordance with health and safety.
Hours:
Due to the hostel being open 24\/7, you must be willing to work on a shift-based rota and open to working weekends, nights, and weekdays. This may affect how many hours you work each week but a minimum of 39 hours is guaranteed each week. Rates per hour (inclusive of holiday pay):
Pre-12 weeks:
Weekday shifts - \u00A39.99 Night shifts - \u00A314.98 Weekend shifts - \u00A312.48 Saturday and \u00A313.28 Sunday.
Post-12 weeks:
Day, weekend, nights shifts - \u00A312.21 Weekday overtime - \u00A313.88 Weekend overtime - \u00A318.26
This is a temporary rolling contract with a minimum of 3 months, often lasting longer. Along with this, there is chance to be offered a permanent position too. What you get in return The successful candidate will gain valuable experience understanding a justice and probation environment. This often opens up other positions within the AP, other probation houses or work within the prison sector.
In order to succeed
Although direct experience is not necessary, ideally, we are looking for strong communication and interaction skills. It will be important to be security conscious and aware of the surroundings. A background in a similar role will be beneficial however not necessary. Successful candidate must have fluent verbal and written English language skills.
All candidates will be subject to a security clearance procedure due to the nature of the working environment. Please be aware that this process can take roughly 6-8 weeks to process.
