An industrial manufacturer is looking for a confident, hands on and pragmatic Product Engineer to join their team in Reading. The innovative company produces and implements a wide variety of products for several interesting markets.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Product Engineer you will provide a hands-on technical role working on new and existing products, liaising with customers with a focus on safety, quality, cost and delivery. Encompassing design, manufacturing, and verification to ensure the product is produced efficiently to specification.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Product Engineer your key duties will include:

* Overseeing NPI from quotation through to delivery

* Working with project teams to ensure products are suitable for design, manufacture, and test

* Maintaining appropriate design data, design records and test information, including the custody of customer drawings and specifications

* Creating detail drawings of designs using the current 3D & 2D CAD system

* Creating and maintaining bills of materials and outlining process detail on the ERP system in conjunction with Operations

* Collaborate with Operations to identify and alleviate potential manufacturing issues and ensuring products progress smoothly and efficiently throughout the facility.

* Discussing project and design requirements with customers and suppliers

* Modifying drawings on CAD and conventional media in accordance with the change request and approval system

* Assisting the Sales Team through responding to correspondence

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be considered for the role of Product Engineer, you must have:

* A qualification in Mechanical Engineering (ONC/D, HNC/D, Degree or similar)

* 3D CAD design and technical drawing experience

* Experience of NPI, stage gating, risk mitigation, verification etc..

* Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods including Lean processes

It would be desirable if you also had:

* Project management experience

* ERP experience in creating, reviewing, and updating BOMs

* 3+ years' experience working in an engineering environment
