The Electrical Design Engineer vacancy provides the opportunity to be an integral part in making the UK's sustainability plans come to fruition. The role provides remote working opportuities with only 1-2 days out of every 10 required to be in the office.

Our Partner has delivered the most technically advanced hybrid solar projects ever built in the UK and is making electric vehicle charging as convenient as petrol refuelling, with a national network of ultra-fast, dependable Electric Vehicle Charging points that provide drivers with the confidence to go electric. We are looking for an Engineer who wants to be part of a fast paced, highly focused engineering team to deliver key milestones. You will be part of a new revolution leading the charge in providing solutions using renewable clean energy. The role involves the delivery of design for Utility scale battery & PV hybrid systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare electrical infrastructure designs for Electric Vehicle Charging Forecourts, Electric Vehicle Charging Hubs, Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems.

• Produce Designs for low voltage DC & AC including Comms and Controls using Amtech, AutoCAD, MS Excel and NBS Specification writing software

• Assist with identifying technical solutions to meet the needs of advancing Electric Vehicle Charging Technology, Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Storage Systems.

• All technical solutions and designs must meet Health and Safety, Technical British Standards and CDM (where applicable) Regulations. Ensure quality of design meets Company Standards.

• Able to deliver project design deliverables: Electrical specification, electrical schematics, cable schedules, AutoCAD drawings, cable calculation reports, protective device settings

• Assist with preparing and submitting DNO applications or similar local network operators

• To provide support for local and international team members with commercial tenders and planning applications, support legal & project delivery teams, as required

• To prepare/amend planning application drawings as required

• Conduct site surveys to check project feasibility and take all relevant measurements and information in order to prepare the final ready to build designs

• Willing to continue developing knowledge in the electrical industry by attending Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses

• Able to research new technologies and look to continue improving project design

• Assist with monitoring system of the commissioned installations

• Ensure good communication between the UK office and international colleagues in other offices

• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001)

Reports To: Lead Design Engineer

Department: Engineering

Responsible for: Responsible for the delivery of design for industrial & Utility scale battery & PV hybrid systems.

Skills Required:

• Must have experience of working within a similar technical design role within electric vehicle charging sector

• Degree or an equivalent level of qualification in Engineering or related discipline. Electrical Engineering degree is highly desirable

• Must have previous experience in system design of commercial electric vehicle charging facilities

• Working knowledge and understanding of H&S regulations, design regulations, electrical standards and CDM (where applicable) regulations

• Experience in designing DC & AC (LV) systems, understanding of electrical schematics, string configuration and layout drawings

• Must have experience of using Amtech and AutoCAD

• Understanding of the different PV substructure options, requirements and limitations

• Ability to analyse and interpret data and perform performance review of working systems

• Working knowledge of Electric Vehicle Charging types including their specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability

• Knowledge of safety features, grounding, disconnects, system testing, and troubleshooting

• Ability to interpret topographical drawings

• Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills and strong focus on accuracy of information

• Advanced IT skills and be fully conversant with the Microsoft Office suite

• Flexible mindset, team player and solutions driven

• A self-motivated, proactive individual with good communication skills

• Good organisational skills with ability to manage time effectively between multiple technically demanding projects

• Excellent communication skills, the ability to present complex technical results in a clear and concise manner

• Hands-on approach, flexible and positive attitude

Desirable Skills:

• Understanding of HV Distribution and Protection Coordination

• Working knowledge of battery energy storage solutions (BESS), Energy Storage solutions (ESS) and Solar PV solutions

• BSth edition qualification and ability to deliver designs and specify required equipment according to the latest regulations and standards

• Working on heights certificate and IPAF training
