Job description

Fawkes and Reece are assisting in the search for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a nationally renowned Tier 1 Main Contractor on site in Slough. The project is a Design & Build, £25mil data centre on a JCT Form of contract. It is due to go live in the first week of December and has a programme of at least a year.

You'll be acting as Number 2 on site, with a Project Quantity Surveyor running the project. The role is site based and you'll be reporting into the Newbury office.

As Quantity Surveyor, you will then go on to various other projects in the Woking area, with real progression opportunities within the company. This role would be ideal for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking for the step up to Quantity Surveyor.

As Quantity Surveyor, your role will include but not be limited to:

Pre-Contract:

Attending pre-commencement / pre-contract meetings
Attend meetings regarding all financial control procedures associated with the design development to ensure the recording of perceived risks and opportunities in the bid as required.

Post Contract:

Financial reporting and control
Continually monitor and review, in detail costs and values of the works at hand.
Commercial forecasting
Ensure that the financial reports are produced and submitted in line with the company's reporting timetable.
Attend regular review and commercial control meetings.
Liaise closely with the Design and Project Management leads to ensure cross control
Management of Risk
Management of contract variations
Contract Review and production Meetings
Main Contract and External Valuations and Final Accounts
Management of Consultants and Subcontractors
Feedback to the Commercial manager of any price elements or unit prices which are considered to be seriously at variance with cost, giving details of shortfall.
Provide constructive comments on improving efficiency.

The ideal Quantity Surveyor will have:

A degree or equivalent qualification
At least 5 years experience within the Main Contracting industry
Experience working on projects circa £20mil
