Our client is a leading wholesale food distributor and the preferred supplier for over 45,000 customers across the UK, ranging from pubs to schools, from restaurants to care homes and everything in between.
They are looking for a Sustainable Packaging Manager to own, co-ordinate, monitor and deliver the Bidfood Packaging Strategy.
They need someone engaging and inspiring to work closely with suppliers, and the confidence to make bold decisions that challenge their status quo.
You will demonstrate conviction in what you know is right for theirbusiness, have an innovative, proactive approach and not be afraid to invest time in ideas that potentially add value. And, you will be responsible for helping to deliver theirtargets to reduce plastic, which are a core element of theirSustainability strategy.
Purpose of the Role:
To own, co-ordinate, monitor and deliver the Bidfood Packaging Strategy.
To manage and ensure that Bidfood complies with packaging materials and legal regulations, including levies and taxes.
To establish and drive internal packaging value optimisation standards and ensure these are adhered to across the business.
To raise the profile of the Bidfood Packaging policy both internally and externally, from depot to board level, customers and suppliers.
As Sustainable Packaging Manager, you will:
Develop, deliver and implement the Bidfood Plastics and Packaging Policies, ensuring all targets and KPIs are achieved.
Continuously review and improve the Bidfood Packaging\/Plastic policies.Manage and adhere to product (packaging) safety compliance and ethical standards.Advise\/Assess\/Monitor legal consultation documents, packaging regulations and government consultations.
Communicate likely impacts to relevant departments of Bidfood and take ownership of action plans and driving changes required.Audit current packaging specifications to establish baseline data, ensure compliance with legal\/ethical\/internal requirements and reduce\/eliminate unnecessary packaging.
Identify areas of Bidfood packaging optimisation in all Divisions to reduce\/reuse\/recycle where possible.Provide support for Indirect Procurement and Data Collections teams.Provide support for Marketing Collateral\/Publications for Internal and external customers including events.
Be the main point of technical support\/contact in Bidfood for packaging queries. Educate internal customers and external customers on packaging compliance and the Deposit Return Scheme.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
They are looking for someone with experience within food manufacturing or food retail.
Detailed knowledge of packaging and environmental matters relating to food and non-food.
Technical knowledge of new packaging innovation\/materials.
Thorough knowledge of packaging\/waste legislation.
Good Knowledge of legal framework with the food industry at UK and EU level.
Project management experience, delivering goals, engaging teams and colleagues.
Great people and communication skills that help you get suppliers and teams on-side to support our plans.
