Are you an Aspiring Therapist looking to gain critical experience working with complex needs? Have you recently graduated with a degree in psychology or similar subject?

This Mental Health Support Therapist role is aimed at an enthusiastic, empathetic Psychology Graduate who wants to initiate restorative practices to assist a wide array of Autistic students, ranging from high functioning to non-verbal.

The school has not had a permanent exclusion for over 12 months, and is committed to ensure no student is left behind both pastorally and academically.

This Specialist Provision in Wokingham has a state of the art Complex Needs Environment, where you will have the opportunity to shadow specialised staff such as speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists etc.

Many of the students will have been through severe traumas and there will be a mix of good and non-existent relationships with their parents, which lends itself to a diversity of therapies to be employed. Restorative Practice, pragmatism, and positive reinforcement will be key skills in this support role in Wokingham. Successful psychology graduates will specialise in working with students who have complex spectrum based needs. The students you are raising attainment with are between the ages of 5-16, all have EHCPs and will need to continue their education once they leave the school.

The role:

  • Psychology Graduates wanted (similar subjects considered).
  • Mental Health Support Therapist.
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Restorative practices.
  • 1:1, small group, intensive interventions and an LSA as part of a wider class - diverse role and diverse range of students.
  • Autism and Mental Health.
  • Wokingham
  • Pay Scale: £65-80 a day

This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent Psychology graduate to gain valuable experience with young people who have complex needs, and to experience first-hand providing restorative practices to vulnerable students.
