Oversee the effective operation of all plant and equipment and the maintenance of fixtures and fittings in guestrooms and public areas.Key responsibilitiesTake a person-centred, dedicated and refined approach to leading our Maintenance departmentRole model behaviours and take a hands-on approach to ensure outstanding guest service, high team member engagement and the safe and effective operation of The Fellows House and townhousesWork collaboratively with our Housekeeping team, Director of Rooms and Director of FBAssume the day to day responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of all Maintenance process, policies and systems in delivering key metrics for The Fellows House and townhousesDemonstrate a thorough knowledge of all plant and equipment in the properties and maintain these in efficient working order by following routine maintenance proceduresAdopt a proactive approach by carrying out a regular walk round the properties to ensure potential problems are dealt with promptlyEnsure procedures are in place across all areas of maintenance in line with Brand and external audits/standardsCarry out short term (reactive) maintenance work as a matter of urgency, while adhering to all safety procedures and causing minimum disruption to guestsCarry out ad hoc decorating workCarry out weekly check of all fire alarms and take action in line with Standard Operating Procedures if any are found to be faultyImplement and ensure adherence to maintenance systems and applicationsMaintain knowledge of and operate The Fellows House security and emergency proceduresDeal with complaints/problems politely and positively and make every effort to resolve them, escalating as appropriateLiaise daily with all departments and deal appropriately with any maintenance issues raised, giving priority to those issues which compromise Health Safety or securityLiaise with contractors on site to ensure that Permits to Work are completed in compliance with Company Health Safety procedures. Act as Clerk of Works to regulate work carried out by contractorsUse, operate and store all tools, equipment and materials safely and securely to comply with statutory regulations e.g. COSHHRespond to call out in line with rota and department standard practiceCarry out checks of maintenance materials at least weekly, keeping stock levels to the minimum necessary to maintain continuity of serviceMaintain operational standards to the highest possible level in respect of service, hygiene, health and safety and ensure that there is minimal wastageRequirementsUK citizen or valid work permitBasic numeracy and literacy skillsBasic Heath Safety CertificateGeneralist technical/engineering backgroundRecent experience in a similar roleAbility to communicate effectivelyCustomer focused with a 'can do' attitudeAnticipate customer needsFlexible and adaptableEnthusiastic and positive attitudeProactive risk assessment and managementAttention to detailAbility to plan, prioritise and to organise selfCourteousAble to multi-taskAbility to work without supervisionCulturedWe believe in being our best and true selves every single day and delivering the most refined experiences possible.
