Job description

Working on behalf of a global organisation we are recruiting an operational buyer to join the team, managing budgets of up to £8million during the year. This is a position of responsibility sourcing and negotiating contracts for a parts list that expands over 5000. You will be a driven person and someone who would see themselves progressing in the future within the organisation. Over time you will be able and expected to attend site and supplier audits.

Start Date: ASAP
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Hours: Core office hours 9am - 4pm Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Circa £35,000 + 10% of salary

Duties:

- Buying of high value low volume and low value, high volume items
- Auditing of suppliers for the agreed masters list
- Onboarding of suppliers
- Ensuring that best value at all times surrounding Price, Quality and Capability
- Maintain KPI's for supplier evaluation
- Produce stock reports for consignment stock suppliers
- Dealing with rejects damaged deliverables
- Use of SAP daily to process and create purchase orders
- Establish and agree schedules with suppliers
- Ensuring that approved suppliers are used
- Advising on internal procurement issues
- Maintain material masters' records
- Maintain adequate stock levels of materials
- Working closely with production to ensure stock holding meets and agreed safety stock levels

Skills and Experience:

- Experience using SAP is desirable but not essential
- Operational buying experience, within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Able to use MSOffice to an intermediate level - including Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional organisational skills
