Tax

We help our clients stay ahead of changes that impact their businesses, navigating complexity and risk. We deliver deep tax technical, people and legal expertise, while providing the critical context to make informed and compliant decisions. With clients ranging from multinational organisations and public sector bodies to entrepreneurs and family businesses, the work we do is diverse.

Hear from Ed Stacey, Tax People Leader about what a career in Tax could mean for you - from development, to our culture, to what we value in our people when building our team.

We are looking for a Senior Associate to join the Southern Transfer Pricing team. Transfer pricing is at the heart of the ongoing reform of the international tax system and in the South East, we are looking to grow our team to service increasing demand for these services as a consequence of global tax reform.

This role is based in Cambridge, however, you will be part of a regional team with opportunities to work with clients across the South East.

Each office in the region has a different client base and this role provides you with the opportunity to develop your experience of working with a wide range of clients (e.g. fast growing technology and biotech companies, large inbounds, established private businesses, start-ups and universities) across many different industry sectors.

About the role

You will be a key member of the Southern Transfer Pricing team and will have the opportunity to work with client service teams from across the region, liaising closely with direct and indirect tax specialist colleagues.

You will have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of work, including designing a transfer pricing model for a company taking its first steps overseas, helping clients resolve tax authority disputes and advising the largest multinational groups on the transfer pricing implications of commercial or financial restructurings.

In recent years, the team has also been involved in leading projects on intellectual property and innovation tax incentives as well as diverted profits tax and financial transactions.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Developing your own transfer pricing technical knowledge and practical experience

Establishing effective working relationships with all team members and clients

Building your own network of contacts through regular participation in TP/ITT network events in the South East and nationally

Working on a number of projects at any one time

Coaching of more junior staff within the UK transfer pricing team

Being proactively involved in the financial management of projects

You will be provided with on the job coaching by the senior managers and director within the team, and you will be expected to complete the online training that is available for newcomers to the PwC transfer pricing network. In addition, you may be invited to attend formal training courses that are appropriate for individuals of your grade and transfer pricing experience.

You can expect your working patterns to be aligned to PwC's flexible working principles and you can find more explanation of these on our website:

Some travel and overnight stays will be likely.

Essential skills and experience

  • Exam qualified (e.g. ACA, CTA, ADIT, CFA or overseas equivalent)

  • A strong interest in transfer pricing and some previous practical experience of transfer pricing projects

  • An appetite to learn and an ability to think creatively

  • Keenness to contribute to the growth of the Southern transfer pricing team

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills (ability to communicate with non-specialists is key)

  • Self-motivated

  • The ability to juggle a number of projects

  • Passion for client service and an interest in understanding your client's business

  • Continuously learns from experiences. Seeks out feedback and development opportunities.

What are we looking for?

An enthusiastic and intellectually curious self-starter with practical experience of transfer pricing, keen to work with a wide range of businesses and be part of a rapidly growing specialist team.
