Salary - £42k - £48k + company car and bonus

Location: Based in Osprey House, Huntingdon with regular travel around the region, and occasional customer sites within the UK.

To help us achieve continued commercial success and further enhance our strong reputation in the water and wastewater treatment industry, we are looking for a proactive and motivated Waste Management & Recycling (WMR) Manager to join our team. With people leadership, customer service, and a growth mindset at the heart of your thinking, we are looking for the right mix of waste management industry experience, team leadership, and commercial acumen skills.

What will you be doing?

The overall purpose of this role is to provide leadership and management to the WMR team in order to deliver the safe, compliant, and profitable delivery of all our services.

Developing our great people and improving the tools, processes, and efficiency of all aspects of the department will be a key focus.

As with all aspects of the Alpheus business, the role will be challenged to grow the scale and profitability of the WMR business unit, taking the lead and responsibility for new customer acquisitions, new business relationships, including long and short term strategies, and efficient and effective marketing and value adding initiatives.

Proactively and assertively managing the operation of the waste reception centres is a key element of the role. The year-round successful and uninterrupted operation of these sites is critical to customer service and to business performance.

Key Accountabilities:

Responsibility for delivering the P&L of the business unit. Annual turnover of c.£3M.
Development and growth of all the people within the Business Unit
Responsibility for driving the growth of the department
Oversee the delivery of leading quality customer service
Responsibility for maintaining compliance and accreditation with all regulatory and stakeholder bodies
Overall responsibility for the successful delivery (safety, quality, turnover, profit) of contracts with key clients

What do you need?

We are looking for you to demonstrate your proven leadership experience managing a diverse workforce. Demonstration of people development capabilities, development of team performance, and inspiring individual qualities.

You should have waste management industry knowledge and experience. Demonstration of in-depth regulatory and market norms and expectations. Be able to demonstrate customer management and relationship building experience and demonstrable successes.

Have a keen awareness and experience in managing and delivering leading operational Health & Safety. Demonstration of awareness and delivery of continuous improvement techniques, leadership qualities required, and leading H&S outcomes. Ideally IOSH or NEBOSH trained.

Have a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the region and UK for customer and site evaluations, management, and support.
