About the role

We wish to appoint a MTMS Vehicle Fitter Reporting to the Engineering Manager.

This is a day shift role Mon- Thurs 8.30am -4.30pm and Friday 8am to 3.30pm

The key accountabilities of the job holder will be as follows:

• Carry out level 1 & 2 maintenance (which consists of before use inspections, Fluid level checks, oil can lubrication, greasing where required and minor repair tasks) on Military vehicles and equipment as specified in publications for the vehicle types.
• Recording the maintenance on the relevant MIS.
• Raising and clearing documentation in support of maintenance tasks.
• Ordering of service items and spare parts.
• Drive, control, operate and maintain vehicles for which qualified.
• Use Company or Authority provided tools and equipment safely in accordance with authorised procedures.
Carry out competent person Inspections on Station Racking. (Training to be provided for successful candidate).
• Ensure that all Team-work areas are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition
• Follow agreed "Safe Systems of Work" wearing appropriate provided PPE when required.
• Comply with Authority security exercises and Authority or Company emergency procedures and drills.

What do I need to do the role?

Qualifications and Experience:
• Must have NVQ 2 in Vehicle Mechanical Engineering or at least five years' experience in Mechanical Engineering Industry or the Armed Forces.
• Good knowledge of SHEF practices and procedures.
• Familiar with Military and/or MOD practices and procedures.

Experience with HGV preferred.

Skills:
• Good interpersonal skills and Computer Literate.
• Has proven organisational skills
• Able to work on own initiatives with defined guidelines.
• Able to work unsupervised.
• Has good understanding of workshop procedures.

Competencies:
• Has excellent communication skills at all levels; verbal and written
• Has the ability to meet objectives.
• Customer care focused.
