Job description

Ford & Stanley Talentwise are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Mechanical Fitter in the Deeside area of North East Wales / Ellesmere Port to play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient continued operation of freight trains across the UK network.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to work with one of the leading players in rail freight wagon maintenance, where training and development are embedded into the company values.

The rail industry in the UK is set to revolutionize over the course of the next 10 years with many infrastructure projects already currently underway - this being a perfect opportunity to take that first step on the ladder of a career within rail for the right candidate. Any mechanical experience will be considered for this position, rail experience is not essential.

Role and Responsibilities:

Maintenance and repair work on freight wagons
Mechanical fitting work
Safe use of mechanical tooling and equipment
Change out of mechanical components
Working to strict safety-critical guidelines under tight time constraints
The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience of mechanical fitting in any industry, whether that is automotive, rail, aerospace, HGV, plant, and many others. You will be a Team player, who can quickly develop strong working relationships with colleagues, but also self-motivated and able to take ownership and responsibility of your own work and team. This is a high-paced environment that would suit someone who is able to stay positive and calm in difficult and stressful situations. Due to the physically demanding nature of this role, the ideal candidate will be able to carry out manual tasks on a day-to-day basis.

Shift Pattern / Hours

This role does not require a shift pattern. The position is working Monday - Friday days, with an opportunity to earn double time on weekends.

Other information: A pre-employment Drugs & Alcohol test and Medical must be passed prior to start. A driving license is also required for this role, as there may be a requirement to drive the company fleet of vans on rare occasions.
