Accountancy Practice - Payroll Manager - Chester\/ Wirral

Your new firm
You will be working with a well established and highly regarded firm of Chartered Accountants. This firm offer a range of services to their extensive client base, inclusive of accounts preparation, bookkeeping, tax and payroll and they are now looking to appoint a Payroll Manager to their successful team.

Your new role
As a Payroll Manager for this firm you will primarily manage a team of 5, split over 2 of the firms offices in Chester and on the Wirral. All staff run their own portfolios and will require guidance and assistance with more technical queries that might arise. You will be involved in their 1-1s and appraisals whilst ensuring workflow is managed appropriately and they have access to the learning and development they need to do the work required. Day to day you will also run your own portfolio of more complex payrolls, clients range from director only runs through to those with up to 600 employees. The client base is varied but they do have a number of NHS and Teacher payrolls. PAYE and CIS are undertaken by the team and as the manager you will naturally have the responsibility of reporting to the Partners and reporting at year end.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to undertake this role you must have previous experience working within a firm of accountants and should have managed staff in a previous role. You must be up to date with current UK legislation in regards to Payroll such as statutory payments and tax legislation and ideally you will have worked with the recent furlough scheme. Knowledge of IRIS Payroll Professional would be looked upon favourably.
