Job description

Our client is a major global player in the Nuclear industry. Operating on a UK Nuclear licensed site specialising in safe, cost effective and reliable uranium enrichment services based in Capenhurst, Chester.

Job Purpose

To provide technical and operational support to waste activities undertaken by the company. The Waste Coordinator will: prepare routine documentation for disposal of waste from site and coordinate sampling, characterisation, packaging etc. activities. Assist Senior Advisers to ensure waste activities are well planned and compliant with legislation. Act as an interface between the waste team and project or operations teams, ensuring project/operations needs are understood and communicated to the waste team as soon as practicable, and ensuring that waste management activities undertaken by projects/operations are carried out correctly.

Main Tasks

Prepare waste documentation for the disposal / treatment of consignments of waste from the Capenhurst Site.
Act as an interface between the Waste Team and Project / Operations Teams.
Plan waste consignments.
Prepare Waste Management Plans and Characterisation Plans
Ensure samples are taken and packaged correctly as per sample plans.
Maintain sample tracking information to ensure the status of all samples from identification through to sample return is understood and ensure safety case requirements are met.
Ensure records and inventory data are kept up to date and correct.
Liaise with projects / operations to ensure that waste is stored, handled and packaged correctly.
Closely liaise with projects / operations and ensure that all emerging waste management requirements are understood and communicated to the wider waste team as soon as practicable.
Key Accountabilities

- Ensure waste advice is adhered to as provided by the waste engineer or senior waste engineer

- Ensure characterisation advice is adhered to as provided by the waste engineer or senior waste engineer

- Ensure waste and sample consignments are correct, compliant and that they are scheduled and managed effectively.

- Participate and where appropriate lead waste management training, toolbox talks and on the job coaching.

- Prepare method statements, risk assessments and waste consignment paperwork for wastes that are being treated, packaged and disposed of by the company
