Job description

An industry leading engineering consultancy are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their successful team in Widnes. The purpose of this position is to act as a leader, manager, and mentor for the Mechanical Engineering staff. As Lead Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the management and delivery of large/complex projects through development, design and

coordination of engineering project services for the respective discipline. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position and have experience in the gas/petrochemical sector.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Liaise with customers to ensure project scope is correct

* Produce, manage, and monitor a project plan considering the resources and time constraints from the client.

* Liaise and guide different internal disciplines required to deliver a project.

* Deliver and promote, technical excellence through the development of bespoke and innovative engineering design solutions to an agreed client scope/ specification.

* Technical support to customer during construction for MWC TQs

* Project manage multiple engineering contracts from the initial specification and quotation to delivery to the client, to quality, time, and cost.

* Progress meetings with customers

* Write feasibility studies (see TR/21 for full scope) for MOC, MEC, Pipelines, Pipeline diversions, New AGIs & AGI upgrades.

* Write Conceptual design studies (see TR/23 for full scope) for MOC, MEC, Pipelines, Pipeline diversions, New AGIs, AGI upgrades.

* Write Detail design studies (see TR/24 for full scope) for MOC, MEC, Pipelines, Pipeline diversions, New AGIs, AGI upgrades.

* Calculations including: -

Population Densities

BPDs

Design Factors

Actual Design Factors

Pipe wall thicknesses

Proximity Pipe requirements

Hydrostatic Test Pressure

Hazardous areas

G37 layouts

Candidate Profile:

* A degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline

* Chartered Engineer (or actively working towards this qualification)

* A minimum of 10 years' experience in the gas industry

* Knowledge of the regulatory requirements in the oil, gas, and petroleum industries

* Experience in working with G/35, GL/5, G/17, and PS/6

* Experienced in working within a multidiscipline team

* Ability to plan, prioritise and achieve deadlines

* Experience in the use of Microsoft Office software

* Experienced in the managing and monitoring of a project program and deliverables

* Ability to remain calm under pressure and clearly delegate tasks to others whilst providing the required level of support

* A desire to continuously develop technical competence and knowledge through targeted CPD and self-led study
