Job description

This is an opportunity to join a modern and rapidly expanding local accountancy practice offering a full range of accountancy and advisory services. Ideally, the candidate should have extensive payroll experience, previous experience of working within an Accountancy Practice or bureau is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities to include:
* Process payroll as per clients requirements
* Monthly / weekly distribution of staff wages via BACS or cheque
* Maintain payroll records
* Ensure processes and procedures follow current regulations
* Respond and resolve queries from clients relating to payroll
* Calculate wages and deductions
* Regular usage of payroll systems, including data compilation and input
* Liaison with HMRC
* Develop the payroll function to ensure it continues to meet clients needs
* Calculate tax and NI commitments
* Set up and process new employees
* Check hours and calculate overtime and holiday pay
* Process relevant paperwork
* Involvement with special situations such as maternity pay
* Administer accurate records for new starters and leavers
* General double entry bookkeeping duties
* Assist the wider account team

Skills & Experience:
* Qualified / Part-qualified or Qualified by Experience
* Well rounded knowledge of payroll and accounting principles
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
* Strong PC and system skills
* Proficient in the use of spreadsheets
* Experience using Sage Line 50 and IRIS preferable
* Knowledge of CIS payment

Salary depending on experience.

Salary: £16,520.00-£28,000.00 per year
