Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose

The position holder will be responsible for the development & provision of effective & capable Mechanical / Electrical testing and validation processes. The role is to ensuring readiness for execution by developing & compiling all testing process instructions for TQR (Validation of Testing Recipes & Procedures, Production Packages, Process Tooling & Consumables, Equipment and Calibration) thus ensuring successful (safe, on time, with high quality and on budget) design, execution, analysis and reporting of product design validation tests, for Client and Product/Process Development Projects.

They will support continuous improvement and the delivery of strategical projects for the site in alignment with Oceaneering's Enterprise Strategic Objectives (ESO's) and site performance metrics. They shall be a proactive team player with an ability to effectively achieve and drive the standards, policies and procedures required, both from a departmental and business perspective. Able to identify and implement 'best working practices' to ensure the team is consistently performing to standards required. Must be capable of encouraging and ensuring other stakeholders operate and collaborate constructively. Must be able to take on additional duties as/when required including standing in for line manager.

Functions

ESSENTIAL

  • Individual contributor who can work independently under limited supervision.
  • Can manage and navigate ambiguous projects with minimal support from more experienced persons.
  • Experienced professional with adequate understanding of one's own job area.
  • Can provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Review and understand the scope of design validation and factory acceptance in a given project
  • Translate the project requirements into a testing plan
  • Develop & implement effective & capable testing processes to meet all critical to quality (CTQ) and critical to process (CTP) requirements within TQR.
  • Develop & implement effective systems of work for QHSE, capability, efficiency and repeatability within testing operations (testing processes, equipment, tooling, competency, qualification and inspection).
  • Identify & implement continuous improvements within the testing processes to enhance & improve process performance, control, capability, capacity, throughput, cost modelling, waste reduction, QHSE, technology, innovation and understanding.
  • Lead/manage & maintain the development of testing procedures, processes & documentation.
  • Develop & maintain all detailed supporting documentation for testing activities (Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Risk Assessments).
  • Develop & maintain all process capability documentation to support testing activities within TQR (capabilities, design rules, selection criteria, calculators & cost modelling).
  • Establish key process metrics for monitoring & documenting testing performance, capability and quality.
  • Create & present reports/data/metrics/material to all levels of the organization.
  • Provide technical support to the testing processes & personnel on a day-to-day basis.
  • Support other functions to enable a successful (safe, on time, with high quality and on budget) project execution.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of Oceaneering's products and/or processes
  • Support the execution of Product and/or Process Improvement Projects, as necessary.
  • Support/Mentor/Coach team members as necessary.
  • Participate in HSE Awareness - Observation Cards, HSE Safety Suggestions
  • Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.
  • Competent in related IT or other systems including word, excel and work specific platforms.
  • Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
  • Displays required levels of engagement and a positive can-do attitude while consistently supporting Oceaneering culture of Safety, Quality, ongoing learning and continual improvement.
  • Any other roles or tasks as required to support our business needs including carrying out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

  • This position has nodirect supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • An undergraduate college or university degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required. A strong candidate with a non-degree qualification may be considered for this position, provided they can demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in a product development and testing environment is necessary
  • Experience with servo-hydraulic machines (i.e. Instron) and their control systems (Labview or similar)

DESIRED
  • Experience working in the Oil & Gas or related industry is desirable. Subsea or Offshore Engineering experience is highly desirable.
  • Strain gauging and Instrumentation
  • Lean / Six-Sigma experience will be a considerable advantage - ability to demonstrate application of improvement techniques and successful results will be required. Design for Six-Sigma (DfSS) will also be considered.

Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.
  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
