Job description

Supplier Development Engineer,

Supplier Development Engineer needed to join my Gloucestershire based client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of electro-mechanical products for a range of industries.

The main purpose of the Supplier Development Engineer is to support the achievement of Purchasing/Supplier Development KPIs by using product, engineering knowledge and data to prioritise both reactive and proactive activities.

Responsibilities of a Supplier Development Engineer;

Engage in the supplier selection processes to ensure suitable and qualified suppliers are used by the company.
Conduct supplier quality audits in accordance with the companies lobal standards
Engage with suppliers to promote the Implementation of suitable quality planning and control activities within the supplier site and promote best practice.
Analyse supplier performance data to determine opportunities for improvement and related reduction of supplier non conformity.
Utilise problem solving techniques to identify the causes of non-conformity and implement countermeasures e.g. 8D
Review 'Lesson Learnt' and promote & implement the outcomes with suppliers.
Provide technical advice to buyers in support of non-conforming product & disputes.
Promotion of the company's policies to ensure it is adhered to by yourself and colleagues and raise opportunities for improvement.
Promote and improve work area (5S).
Manage time effectively.
Demonstrate the companies Core Values.
Experience and Skills of the Supplier Development Engineer:

A track record of working in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing/ production environment.
Experienced in ISO 9001 and related quality systems.
Experienced in a range of supplier management, quality planning and non-conformance management disciplines.
Manufacturing process understanding: casting forging, machining, coating, pressing, fabrication and electronics.
Recognised academic qualifications in an engineeering or quality related discipline.
Can demonstrate on-the-job qualifications in quality related discipline. E.g Projects, Assignments, Improvement Programmes that have been completed in a quality role.
Awareness of material and product certificaitons
Quality auditing.
FMEA.
Control Planning.
Non conformance management (8D etc).
Continuous Improvement (CI) tools such as Six Sigma, 5Y, Kaizen etc.
Ability to manage projects, chair meetings and use appropriate soft skills.
Conversant with engineering drawing and quality control inspection.
