Our Cirencester based client are manufacturers of electronic solutions for a variety of different sectors including medical, aerospace, industrial and agricultural, who are looking to employ a Trainee Test Technician to join their friendly team.
The Purpose of the Role:
The primary purpose of this job is to carry out tests to ensure that our manufactured parts meet their test criteria. By using test equipment and test procedures, you will find any faults rectify/ rework. This role will include the use of test equipment and circuit/schematic diagrams.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
With training, the successful candidate would be required to complete the following:
Establish priorities each day with Senior Engineers and plan an effective work schedule.
Collaborate closely with Team Leaders of other departments and work alongside production schedules and delivery deadlines.
Ensure that customer specifications, test requirements and job documentation are all available and clear.
Understand the nature of the test and its parameters before commencing.
Carry out tests in compliance with specified test standards.
Conduct electrical tests from diagrams provided in accordance with specification and safety standards.
Assist in fault finding where the source of the problem has not been identified.
Verify the source of a problem and its solution where required.
Produce written evidence of test results for the customer in the format requested.
Use appropriate software to present results.
Ensure that a hard copy of test results is compiled and stored in the relevant job file.
Ensure complete compliance with internal Quality Control procedures and documentation.
Ensure complete compliance with industry regulations and customer quality control procedures where specified.
Ensure that any and all faults or failures are made known to Production staff immediately where there are implications for work in progress.
Help to identify improvements that might assist with productivity or working conditions and convey in the appropriate forum.
Be prepared to assist in other departments when required and cover shortages and workload variations.
Undertake new training where appropriate and maintain flexibility between departments.
Tools and Equipment:
Ensure the correct equipment is used for the correct test and follow user instructions.
Use equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
Report any defects or problems with equipment to Senior Engineer immediately.
Shut down and store equipment correctly and safely.
Look after tools and store safely when not in use.
Ensure that safety measures regarding individual machines/equipment are fully understood and followed.
Health and Safety:
Operate machinery according to the instruction manual, using Health & Safety checks and guards at all times.
Assist in training other members of staff to operate machines safely, when required.
Ensure correct use of protective clothing or equipment at all times.
Keep immediate working environment safe and tidy, ensuring access to work and prevention of hazards.
Comply fully with Health and Safety policy and procedures.
Report all accidents immediately, applying appropriate first aid and documenting in the accident book.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate would either be attending (part-time) or would have finished a relevant electronic course.
You must be computer literate, having used at least Word and Excel.
Good problem solving skills.
Keen eye for detail.
Good manual dexterity.
