API Architect (remote working)

£600-£700 p/d

The API architect acts as the primary point of contact for API guidance and governance with integration architects, designers and developers across the organisation. The role requires a solid understanding not only of the technical foundation of the MuleSoft Anypoint platform, and API life cycle, but also of the business value of APIs, how best to design and execute against an API roadmap to drive that value and achieve reuse of integration assets and underlying systems.

The API Architect is a technology enthusiast with a strong track record of building and running high volume, reliable API-led architectures, preferably including cloud, As-A-Service infrastructure, and applications. The individual is expected to be relentlessly focused on reuse of APIs and their underlying components. Success in this role will be measured by the ease with which APIs can be reused, driving adoption and value from the MuleSoft platform.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Translate of business and user requirements into accurate system requirements/design documents.
• Champion an API-led approach to integration delivery, embedding the ethos into the organisation.
• Define, shape and maintain the global API roadmap.
• Drive up the level of API reuse through effective API architecture, design and communication.
• Apply a pragmatic approach to balance immediate and longer-term API development requirements.
• Provide advice and guidance to delivery teams to ensure a smooth implementation and remove roadblocks, mitigating risks.
• Ensure API designs prioritise reuse wherever possible.
• Provide guidance to project and programme integration leads to assist them in selecting the correct patterns and technologies of their integration needs.
• API prototyping using RAML to showcase iterative/emergent API specification driven design.
• Ensure APIs are aligned with the defined architectural principles dictated by the enterprise architecture team.
• Work closely with the resto of the C4E to ensure full team alignment in term of message, technology and goals.

CRITICAL EXPERIENCE:

• Experience working in a governance/guidance role, ensuring disparate project teams do the right thing .
• Experience in architecting and delivering an enterprise API program.
• Track of record in delivering complex enterprise-scale software solutions.
• Experience in implementing different components of an API stack.
• Experience as a Developer or an Integration Architect working with the MuleSoft Anypoint platform.
• Experience with agile project delivery including CI.
