Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The Assistant Project Manager supports the Programme Manager and Project Managers in the delivery of Naval Ships & Naval Services projects.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the PM team in the organisation and management of the cross-discipline, matrixed project teamsMeet schedule and cost targets as defined in the master schedule and in accordance with contracted KPIsEnsure the smooth running of customer meetings and periodic reviewsEnsure the project delivery team is responsive to customer needsTo deputise for the Programme Manager or Project Manager in his or her absenceGeneral Operational DutiesProvide the Programme and Project Managers with status reports on key Programme activities in accordance with the project drumbeatSupport the preparation of presentation material for both internal and external meetingsAttend discipline and project meetings and ensure actions are tracked to closureSupport the generation of technical and commercial responses to RFQsRemain compliant with all Command Media Processes and proceduresUnderstand and apply all policies, processes and procedures around compliance and governancePerson SpecificationEssential qualifications / experienceSome experience as part of a project delivery teamFamiliarity with basic project management tools e.g. Microsoft ProjectDegree educated in engineering or other numerate subject (2i or higher)Preferred qualifications / experienceProfessional Project Management qualifications such as Prince2 / PMPUnderstanding of UK/US export controlUnderstanding of processes for working with UK protectively marked materialFamiliarity with complex electronics/Defence electronics systemsCompetency/Skill requirementsAdept at problem-solving, able to develop solutions to a variety of problemsGood attention to detailOrganised, adept at workload management and prioritising appropriately to meet deadlinesFlexible and responsive to changing prioritiesProactive team worker, equally self-motivated and able to work autonomouslyGood interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with all audiences/stakeholdersProficient user of MS officeCompetent in PowerPoint (and face-to-face presentation delivery - if required)Fluent in written and spoken EnglishStrong customer focusEngaging 'can do' attitudeOther requirementsTravel requirements: Occasional UK travel may be required to attend team/customer meetings and training activitiesClearance requirements: Post-holder must be able to achieve UK Government clearance (SC)Looking for flexibility?
