Job DescriptionGENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:Vertex is seeking a seasoned data and analytics leader to head the business engagement, planning and delivery of key data and analytics capabilities to support Vertex's expanding International Commercial organization. Vertex is in a transformational period where we are accelerating our data, technology, and engineering capabilities to augment our scientific mission, enable Vertex to grow in scale and be on the forefront of science, medicine, and technology.The Associate Director of International data and analytics will be the DTE leader responsible for partnering with our International Commercial business stakeholders and our data and cloud platform teams in helping to revolutionize the way Vertex leverages data and the cloud to build new analytics capabilities and advanced models in our endeavors to get our therapies in the hands of those in need. We are looking for an analytics visionary who understands commercial processes and data in the pharmaceutical space and understands how the power, scalability and agility of cloud infrastructure and computing can be applied to advance organizational analytics capabilities up the maturity curve contributing to an unmatchable user experience for our customers.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIRED SKILLSSee the Key Responsibilities section.Skills and QualificationsStrong knowledge and background on Commercial operations and data, preferably in the life sciences industry.Expertise in developing relationships with and ensuring the appropriate participation of key stakeholders and executives.Experience in communicating complex technical capabilities to business partners in a simple and effective wayStrong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracyStrong business analysis, data querying and data analysis skillsStrong skills in applicability and implementation of data science and machine learning techniques in creating business value.Expertise in and experience working with AWS cloud data technologies and services.Expertise in and experience using business intelligence tools like Tableau and Power BI.Strong knowledge of and experience working with databases, SQL and both structured and un-structured data.Expertise in developing user-centric roadmaps incorporating design thinking in the development process.Exceptional people management and project management skills including project governance, risk tracking and mitigation and project communication.A strong background in both Waterfall and Agile software development methodologyDemonstrable ability to lead diverse teams within a complex and challenging customer service environment.Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate and present to senior business leaders.Good understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations like GDPR, securing patient data and other industry specific global and local regulations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategic partner and business engagement lead for all data and analytics needs of the international commercial organizationPrimary responsibility for co-developing the data and analytics strategy and vision with the business stakeholders and technology teams and then leading technical execution of the same for the international commercial organization.Collaborate with the business owners on aligning technology strategy with the business strategy and goals including identification and development of different use cases that create business value.Partner with the business product owners and data product managers to create product roadmaps that align with the business goals and technology strategy.
