Your new team
Our Investments group values its people and capability above all. Having made the decision to internalise a significant proportion of our investment activity, we have carefully established a team of talented and highly capable funds management professionals, united in their purpose to improve retirement outcomes for AustralianSuper members.
The Infrastructure Team in London sit within the global infrastructure department, which is within a broader strategy encompassing all real assets. This is across our offices in Australia, New York and London, where you will proactively collaborate with peers and colleagues (which includes Infrastructure, Real Estate and Direct Private Credit strategies) to share investment insights.
Due to significant growth the team in London is currently expanding from 3-4 members to 9-10+ in the next six months, seeking to deploy significant amounts of capital in large direct infrastructure transactions throughout Europe. It is a great time to join and be part of the exciting expansion strategy that the fund has in place for the coming years.
Your new role
The Infrastructure Portfolio Strategy involves the ongoing pursuit and management of large direct infrastructure investments within targeted subsectors across global developed markets, where you will be working alongside senior managers with over 20 years' experience in the investment space.
As Associate Director on this team, you would be working collaboratively with colleagues in Australia and New York, managing a portfolio of infrastructure investments in excess of £13 billion. You would have a pivotal role helping to pursue new investment opportunities and overseeing asset management of existing investments.
Some of your key responsibilities will be:
New Investments
Working collaboratively with more senior colleagues, the role will include:
- Researching, analysing, and evaluating a variety of infrastructure sectors and direct investment opportunities.
- Overseeing analysts in building dynamic financial models to evaluate investment opportunities.
- Being the primary point of contact for due diligence workstreams and execution workstream when pursuing a new investment.
- Developing investment valuation analysis and framework to assist the team in understanding the value of an investment and debating the price to pay for it.
- Effectively drafting approval materials and spearheading some approval processes; and
- Researching potential new markets or sectors within the Infrastructure asset class.
Portfolio Management
Working collaboratively with Portfolio Team colleagues, the role will support the portfolio management functions including:
- Overseeing quarterly evaluation models and performance assessment.
- Analysing historic and forecasting future performance of the Portfolio; and
- Contributing to Portfolio improvement initiatives.
You'll need
- Ideally 6-7 years relevant experience in the Infrastructure space, within either digital infrastructure, transport infrastructure or energy transition
- Degree and qualifications relevant in the investment industry
- A collaborative and team-player work ethic
- Proven ability to support transaction execution and/or asset management functions for direct infrastructure investments
- Proficient and confident use of MS Office products especially Excel
- Diligent with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent writing skills (as will be preparing papers for committee approval)
- Significant experience with undertaking analysis of information and drawing conclusions
- Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to express an articulated view
- A second (European) language is preferred but not essential.
