JOB PURPOSE:
-UK Power Networks Services require an experienced Bid Manager - Proposals for the development of bids. The purpose of the role is to:
-Assemble a team to prepare a winning bid, whilst taking ownership of the end to end bid process.
-Assume responsibility for an opportunity during the 'propose' phase of the Business Development Process; including value proposition / strategy development, solution development, commercial considerations, and risk management.
-Introduce and implement all necessary bid procedures, governance and processes.
The Bid Manager - Proposals will work under the instruction of the Business Operations Manager - Proposals Lead and will interface with the various stakeholders as required.
The role will be office based at our headquarters in Newington House, Elephant and Castle, you may be required to work late on occasions to ensure deadlines for submissions are met.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The individual should be able to effectively lead teams both with and without direct line responsibility to achieve a high bid conversion rate (exceeding 70% by both number and value).
The individual will need to be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision. They must be a good communicator with excellent inter-personal skills and must represent UK Power Network Services' best company values with both internal and external stakeholders. They will also need to have good relationship skills and the ability to make a positive contribution to the successful delivery of targets.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Ensure the timely delivery of compliant and commercially sound bids within customer defined timescales.
Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from multiple stakeholders.
Communicate and influence at the senior level internally and with clients.
Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues - to arrive at the winning bid strategy.
Contribute to the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation - including writing the executive summary.
Coordinate and review / edit bid inputs - quality assurance.
Prepare and review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring that everything is included in the final price.
Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process.
Arrange all post bid submission exchanges / reviews with the client.
Lead post submission 'lessons learnt' reviews.
Stand in the customer shoes, act as the 'Voice of the Customer'.

Qualification:
* Degree educated.
* APMP Practitioner or Professional level.
* Advanced MS Word skill and proficient in MS Office.
Experience:
* Proven capability in delivering winning bids for complex product and service opportunities.
* A strong background in bid management from opportunity identification through to project hand over at contract signature.
* Must be able to provide input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions and solution design.
* Have proven ability to manage complex, multi-work stream opportunities.
* Solid understanding and implementation of internal governance procedures.
* Experienced in scheduling and running bid kick-off meetings, leading storyboarding sessions, facilitating key review meetings / final document review, co-ordinating governance / sign off, document production and delivery of complete bid.
