DescriptionAbout this role. Business Unit Overview: BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) is the dedicated Alternatives division within BlackRock with more than $275b in AUM across direct and multi-manager Hedge Fund strategies, Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Assets and Alternative Solutions. BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA), is BLK's dedicated hedge fund solutions unit, and manages over $30 billion (as of September 30, 2021) in a wide range of multi-manager absolute return and co-investment strategies for a broadly diversified, global client base. The BAA team is responsible for representing our hedge fund solutions services to external clients and internal partners. BAA is seeking to hire a product strategist who will be responsible for supporting our business growth and client retention across a range of investor types and customized capabilities. The candidate should have knowledge in alternative investments with strength in the universe of hedge fund strategies, demonstrating an ability to effectively communicate investment content and market dynamics in written and verbal context to clients, prospects and internal teams. Job Purpose/Background: The BAA Product Specialist team is responsible for growing and retaining client investments in BAA products. This Product Specialist role will be a member of the EMEA region working with current clients, and prospective clients. The role will report directly to the head of the EMEA PS region and will have heavy interaction with the Global Head of Product Strategy and the BAA broader Investment team, in addition to working with BlackRock sales and client channels. The nature of BAA sales is grounded on consultative communication, and the candidate must demonstrate strength in developing materials and commercial narratives to support business development and client retention. The role requires significant collaboration with other BAA team members, as well as client and sales channels BlackRock's Institutional Client Business (ICB), Global Consultant Relations (GCR), BlackRock Alternatives Specialists (BAS), and BlackRock Wealth. Key Responsibilities: Working in partnership with the EMEA PS regional team to support and lead engagement with clients in substantive conversations related to portfolio allocations across hedge fund strategies. Develop technical strength on investment aspects related to our process and our client portfolios. Create, develop and maintain materials to assist in building awareness both internally and externally of BAA capabilities, unique selling points, marketing and providing performance updates. Engage with internal constituents across BlackRock client and sales channels to help team position BAA investment capabilities and service current clients. Additional responsibilities include conducting research and developing written content and marketing materials in support of prospect development and client relationship management. Skills/Qualifications: Strong research and communication (verbally and written) skills to clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas, and processes. High level of attention to detail and commerciality. Demonstration of strong critical thinking. Previous experience in alternatives a plus. Natural curiosity and interest in capital markets and advanced investment strategies. Collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks. Ability to manage multiple complex projects at the same time. Presence and credibility to effectively represent BAA internally and externally. Ambitious work ethic and professional disposition. High attention to detail and drive for quality. Unimpeachable integrity with an uncompromised reputation. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and ability to develop familiarity and skill using proprietary technology. CFA or CAIA additive.
