Construction Manager - Utilities - London - Thames Water AMP7
Murphy is looking for a Construction Manager to support the PM by leading, motivating, and offering mentoring to a site-based team working on the Thames Water AMP7 framework. The scope entails clean and wastewater projects so industry experience working on multi utility packages is a must.
Our Water Business is operating nationally providing world-class infrastructure solutions to Thames water, United Utilities, Severn Trent, HS2, Bristol Water, South East Water, Wessex Water and Sutton & East Surrey Water. The Water Business has an annual turnover of c. £200 million. Murphy are working on multiple frameworks in the South of England and the Midlands.

What you will be doing

· Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
· Experience of a multi-Utility package
· Overall management of project teams during the construction and installation phase of the project.
· Co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase.
· Co-ordination and allocation of construction staff to projects ensuring that appropriate construction and installation staff are appointed to individual projects: based on experience, skills and knowledge.
· Liaises with the Project Managers to ensure that the construction resource pool is an appropriate size, with an appropriate blend of skill-sets for the projected workload.
· Overall management of construction resources including Labour, Plant and Materials.
· Overall performance management of subcontractors.
· Ensures that the construction and installation teams are accountable for their performance against agreed schedules and man-hour budgets.
· Ensures that all construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation.
· Ensures that the duties of the Principal Contractor are discharged in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
· Ensures that all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with agreed quality procedures.
· Interfaces with all other functional leaders within the organisation to facilitate successful development of the project from solution stage constructability through construction, installation, commissioning and handover to the client.
· Ensure regular input from the Project Manager is gained on third party, environmental and public relations issues.
· Participate in, and positively promote, the Murphy Culture Development Culture (leading to Zero Harm)

Who we are looking for
· successful experience as a Construction Manager for a tier 1 or tier 2 contractor
· previous experience on a water/utilities project
· experience of tunnels, shafts, pits, inner city construction and utilities preferred
· proven ability to lead teams and performance manage
· IT literate: Microsoft Office etc
· Experience in managing materials including liaising with the commercial team to ensure the right materials are ordered and delivered
About the Project
· Thames Water AMP7 is a 4-year long framework (plus a possible 5 year extension into AMP8)
* Murphy is a Primary Contractor in Lot 5 North London Infrastructure, value £200m
* The framework will consist of the delivery of ECI, detailed design, build, commissioning and handover of water and wastewater infrastructure schemes
* Include individual projects up to £30m (majority will be less than £15m with average value of £5 - 7m)
* Design Partner in place
* Featuring repairs and build of new assets including water treatment plants, pump stations, sewers, pipeline, reservoirs and drainage.
