Job description
Ideally you will have exprience as a small works manager in hospitals and schools be qualified to degree level in construction project management.
We are a principle chartered building contractor, priding ourselves on delivering high quality projects in and around the London/Essex area. We are looking for an experienced qualified Construction Project Manager to plan and supervise a wide range of construction projects from start to finish. You will organise and oversee construction procedures and ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner
The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organisational skills.
The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.
Responsibilities
Planning - From the outset you will be responsible for planning the build process, by producing a critical path and understand the timing of each stage. Following each phase of the project is essential to ensure that the project is completed on time.
Resource Allocation - You are to understand and be responsible for sourcing all materials from bricks and mortar to tools and basic amenities
Staff Management - You will have a clear understanding of what trades will be needed and when, identifying suitable sub-contractors who can complete the work. You will be responsible for recruiting a team and allocating tasks to relevant managers.
Setting Benchmarks - You are responsible for monitoring the project by setting benchmarks to monitor progress, this will allow you to identify whether the project is on target to finish on time and within budget.
Budget Management - You will be responsible for the financial planning and monitoring of the project by continually forecasting and keeping the team informed of any developments and changes. Manage the scope of works meticulously, keeping on top of any unplanned costs and escalating to senior management as and when necessary. You are to have a very good understanding of valuations and invoicing procedures.
Health and Safety - ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report any issues. Carry out risk assessments, method statements and toolbox talks.
Requirements
You are to have proven experience as a Construction Project Manager
Excellent planning and time management skills to ensure that projects are completed within set time frames.
Have an in-depth understanding of construction procedures and materials
Good resource management ensuring that equipment is available throughout the building project.
Be financially astute and diligent with budget management making sure that the project is completed within a financial budget.
Outstanding communication and organisational skills when arranging meetings and ensuring that all stakeholders are aware of the project's progress.
Expert in delegation and motivation, as you will be responsible for ensuring that tasks are delegated effectively, and staff/subcontractors remain motivated to complete the project to a high standard.
An excellent team player with leadership abilities
Have very strong construction knowledge, as at times of uncertainty you may be relied upon for your superior knowledge of the industry and specific problems.
Be familiar with quality and health and safety standards
Package
£45,000 - £55,000 per year depending on experience
