Job description

My client - an international bank in the Financial Services industry is looking for a Counterparty Risk Developer - (Python, Excel, Power BI, VBA) to join their site in London, to advise the Bank Management on the definition of risk policy by contributing as a "second pair of eyes" to ensure that risks taken by the bank are aligned with its policies. To report and alert bank management on the status of risks to which the bank is exposed.

Description

The successful candidate for the Counterparty Risk Developer - (Python, Excel, Power BI, VBA) contract role based in London will fulfil the following:

  • Redevelopment of an End User Computing Tools (primarily based in Excel) into a consistent, well-documented Python and Power BI. These tools are used for stress testing and risk analysis of Hedge Fund counter parties (Counterparty Risk focused).
    • In addition to coding and documentation, this will necessarily involve some Business Analysis and Testing tasks, in collaboration with MCL PAC team members.
    • As part of this, develop and enhance data quality controls supporting tasks.
  • Similar redevelopment of End User Computing Tools (primarily in Excel) into a well-controlled Python code base, for additional Counterparty Risk Analysis needs, including for the Capital Markets Risk Committee (CMRC).
  • The position is within an end user team, not IT, but will involve interaction with the IT team (Risk Systems) to understand the source data extracted for use in the Python scripts. Some involvement in release management and use of appropriate source code control technology (eg Artifactory).
  • Contribution to other tasks as needed, to enhance the Management Information set-up, potentially covering Market Risk and Market Data topics in addition to Counterparty Risk.

To be considered for the Counterparty Risk Developer - (Python, Excel, Power BI, VBA) 6-month contract role the candidate must present evidence of the following:

Essential Skills -

  • Expert in Python
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in Power BI
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • A team player/collaborator who is results driven

Preferred -

  • Previous work with VBA
  • Track record of problem solving
  • Ability to develop and adapt a process

Job Offer

The day rate for this contract role is between £600 and £700 - per day INSIDE IR35
