Job description

Our client in SW London offers a hybrid working arrangement (2-3 days in the office) and are seeking to appoint a full-time, permanent Data Support Officer to join their experienced and stable team of 7 within this University.

You will provide key support to Registry Services in the management of students' academic records. This will involve writing queries and reports to extract, format and analyse data from the University's Student Record System and other administrative systems. The Data Support Officer plays a key role as a point of contact for queries and support for both staff and faculty.

An additional part of the role is to also be responsible for the timetabling of the teaching and examination timetables which would take up 20-30% of your time. The client will offer training on this area, so timetabling experience isn't essential to apply.

Duties will include:

To query, integrate and present data held in the student record system and other administrative systems
The co-ordination and production of accurate, valid and timely UK statutory returns
The co-ordination and production of accurate, valid and timely internal data sets and reports
Take responsibility for key system processes relating to the student study and assessment cycle
Timetabling of classes and examinations
Identify and implement improvements to increase system use across campus, maintain data accuracy and enhance the effectiveness of processes relating to student administration
Support in the process required to monitor and report on registered students

Experience required:

Advanced Excel skills (tested at interview)
Basic SQL skills (tested at interview)
Good numerical and analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex problems and advise on appropriate solutions
Experience of working with a complex database
Experience and skills in use of query languages and reporting tools to develop and produce a wide range of reports, returns and data analysis, including SQL (basic), business intelligence tools and Excel to intermediate level;
Experience of working in a higher education environment (desirable)
