Job description

Fixed Income Development Manager (Software Engineering Programmer Fixed Income Bonds Credit Rates Java Python C++ JavaScript C# Derivatives Buy Side Asset Management Investment Manager Hedge Fund React Node TypeScript AWS) required by our asset management client in London.

You MUST have the following:

  • Experience as a Software Engineer Manager/Programming Manager/Development Manager
  • Excellent knowledge of Fixed Income - such as any of: rates, credit, bonds, MM, IRS, MBS, CDO's etc (buy-side or sell-side)
  • Current hands-on coding capability in any language- Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, C#
  • Experience managing teams of software engineers- appraisals, hiring, budgeting, reporting to senior management
  • Familiarity with modern testing and CI/CD development life cycle methodologies and processes

The following is DESIRABLE, not essential:

  • Knowledge of Fixed Income derivatives- futures, swaps, options etc
  • Buy-side/asset management experience
  • React, Node, TypeScript and AWS (or other cloud)

Role: Fixed Income Development Manager (Software Engineering Programmer Fixed Income Bonds Credit Rates Java Python C++ JavaScript C# Derivatives Buy Side Asset Management Investment Manager Hedge Fund React Node TypeScript AWS) required by our asset management client in London. You will inherit a team of 6 that are responsible for the transformation of trade indicator tools, written by the portfolio managers and their assistants in Excel, VB or Python, into scalable, stable products in an AWS, Node and React stack. The team are full-stack developers and are responsible for the whole SDLC. There are no separate DevOps, BA's or testers. As a result, the team has strong Fixed Income knowledge and it is mandatory that you come from this background. You will also need to possess a strong awareness for business impact and delivery in relation to this.

The team has a principal engineer/solutions architect who is responsible for technical strategy, development standards and architecture. Your role will be responsible for man-management, budgeting, collaborating with the business and senior management. You will have technical input and be responsible, overall, for delivery. As such, you will be tested on your coding and design ability during the interview process.

The team is set to grow. Over 2022, it is likely to reach 9-10 engineers.

The company operates flexible working allowing for 2 days/week to be working from home. Interaction and collaboration with the business is important, although there may be further flexibility on this. Hours are generally 9-5 but are flexible also.

Travel to the US, when restrictions are lifted, will be once every 3-6 months.

Salary: £170k - £200k + 25% Bonus + 10% Pension
