Development Manager - Student - Build to Rent and hotels

London

£40,000 to £100,000 per annum

I am working with a privately owned, trusted group of companiesfocused on the student, build to rent, hotel and commercial sectors in Londonand across the United Kingdom. They are a market-leading real estate platformwith assets under management of more than £1 billion.

They arelooking for an experienced development Manager to join their development team. The team workshand in hand with the group's other functions, responsible for the riskassessment, planning, design, and delivery of a portfolio of developments acrossthe student, build to rent and hotel sectors from concept design through to practicalcompletion.

ThePosition

1.Working closely with the AcquisitionsTeam, conducting due diligence by assessing sites, planning, design, construction,costs, and programme.

2.Working closely with the Investment Teamto prepare business cases for projects to proceed through gateways at ExecutiveCommittee and, once approved, ensure projects meet their economic targets.

3.Appointing and leading a professionalteam, initially to achieve planning consent and later through to PracticalCompletion.

4.At a project level, leading relationshipswith stakeholders such as funders, joint venture partners, communityorganisations, planning authorities, statutory ©bodies, and contractors.

5.Obtaining planning consent, statutoryand third-party approvals, working closely with the Planning Team, Social ValueTeam and Legal Team.

6.Post planning consent, leading aprofessional team to procure construction, working closely with theConstruction Team.

7.Assessing risk and ensuring mitigationmeasures are in place and budgeted for, reporting regularly into the FinanceTeam.

8.Suggesting and implementing efficiencies,alternatives, and compromises to balance economic targets with otherrequirements.

9.Reviewing and approving project payments,keeping the Finance Team apprised of the budget.

10.Manging the contractor and other thirdparties to deliver Practical Completion and occupancy, including ensuringplanning conditions, statutory, third party, occupier and funder requirementsare satisfied.

11.Staying current with industry practice, legislativechanges, construction costs and market conditions.

Experienceand Skills

·You must have completed a postgraduatequalification and have at least five years' experience.

·People and communication skills arekey.You must be capable of using yourpersonality, in addition to your expertise, to influence situations.

·We focus on clear communication and solidteamwork.In addition, you need to behighly organised and able to adapt, whilst prioritising the needs of ourbusiness.

·You must possess the ability to workwith confidence and self-discipline, taking ownership of tasks and being ableto demonstrate sound judgement and decision-making skills.However, you will always have your colleaguesto run things by and support you.

·You will grow to understand the way ourbusiness works, its culture and processes.By understanding the bigger picture, you will be able to advise onstrategy.It's important to be succinct- the colleagues you support will want to know the answer, risk and cost
