About the Role The External Communications Director is responsible for managing FTI's external communications programme across the region. Principally comprised of PR activity, the programme addresses both the corporate FTI story and the marketing programmes driven from FTI business segments and regional offices. Reporting to the Managing Director, Marketing, EMEA, and based in London, the role interfaces with EMEA business leadership and regional marketing leadership to create and deliver programmes and processes that enhance and safeguard FTI's reputation in its markets. The role coordinates closely with the US-based Managing Director of Media Relations & Communications to ensure that EMEA activities are aligned with FTI Consulting's global communications priorities and that global programmes are leveraged within the region. What You'll Do Develop and own FTI's EMEA corporate communications programme. Build and manage relationships with correspondents from major strategic titles and key media covering the professional services sector to communicate the FTI corporate story and manage the business's reputation Support business segments, regions, sector groups and other strategic initiatives to develop and deliver PR programmes that support their strategic objectives, leveraging thought leadership and expert commentary from the business Manage FTI's day-to-day media interactions programme in EMEA, supporting interviewees with preparation, execution and follow-up, and working with other marketing team members to manage the distribution of communications material through multiple channels (e.g. website, social media, newswires, etc) Provide expert advice and guidance to marketing teams and business leaders across the EMEA region Write, edit and proof communications materials for external use via web, social media and media relations, sourced from corporate, segment and regional business units Ensure PR policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by relevant parties across the region, including external agencies Facilitate such agency support as may be required on an ongoing or ad hoc basis to execute the EMEA corporate communications plan Own FTI Consulting's EMEA external communications crisis management plan and manage crisis communications issues in the region, coordinating closely with the Managing Director of Media Relations & Communications to deliver an integrated global approach. Also work with EMEA corporate leaders to ensure external crisis communications are coordinated across the business Provide media training to EMEA spokespeople as required Monitor media for FTI Consulting coverage, circulate to appropriate parties and provide periodic reporting on FTI Consulting's external profile Support FTI's thought leadership development programme with strategic advice Provide the primary interface with FTI's global corporate communications team, contributing to the global team's regular meetings to share relevant regional updates Work with the Managing Director of Media Relations & Communications on global, firmwide campaigns Work closely with the regional internal communications team and heads of corporate functions to develop an integrated programme that presents a consistent message to FTI's stakeholder groups Qualification & Experience 10 years' experience in a leading corporate communications or senior agency role Existing relationships with key journalists at leading business titles Experience of working with or within the professional services industry Experience of managing external agencies across multiple countries Excellent editorial skills, including drafting, editing and proofing Excellent verbal communications and presentation skills Proven leadership expertise and influencing skills, and able to operate at senior executive level Calm under pressure, able to exercise sound judgement and operate collaboratively within a dynamic international team This role requires travel to FTI offices #LI-MD1 Our Benefits Apart from the well-structured career path and excellent team environment, our employees enjoy a variety of perks and benefits.
