Job description

My client is a multidisciplinary environmental and engineering company, boasting a status one of the UK's largest planning and EIA practices.

I am marketing a unique and exciting opportunity for an Associate Director/Technical Director to join a thriving Environment and Consents nationwide team. This is a great opportunity to manage and deliver planning and environmental inputs to a range of projects for a wide client base. The sectors includes low carbon and hydrogen, energy generation, transmission and distribution, aviation, and transport.

the perfect individual would be passionate about delivering effective planning and environmental advice and positively influencing the performance of major development projects.

Key Responsibilities

The role will involve:

* Providing clients with the appropriate technical and consenting advice in relation to nationally significant projects;
* Working with other senior colleagues to prepare and lead the implementation of ambitious growth plans for our business;
* Leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver inputs across all project lifecycles from early strategy development, through feasibility/optioneering to detailed design and assessment.
* Managing and maintaining high value budgets and associated management deliverables;
* Responsibility for the quality of project deliverables;
* Interface with the wider project stakeholders including the client's engineering team, consultation leads, lawyers etc; and
* Representing the firm and its clients to key stakeholders, regulators and industry as required.

Role Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

* A demonstrable track record in the management of major projects and a thorough understanding and experience of the DCO process, including examinations.
* Experience in delivering Consents/EIAs for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
* Excellent reporting and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, seeking technical input from other disciplines to deliver carefully considered solutions to produce high quality work.
* Experience of staff management, particularly leading multi-disciplinary teams as project manager.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients, suppliers, and industry.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

* A degree (or equivalent) in Town Planning or relevant environmental discipline, with a strong emphasis on EIA.
* Membership of the RTPI or Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or other professional accreditation/ registration with a recognised body.
* A minimum of 10 years' experience in the UK with a substantial part of that time spent in the private sector.
* A full driving licence
