Job description

Are you immediately available and you want to work for a leading Financial Services businesses? I am looking for an experienced Financial Accounting Manager to join this established finance team for a minimum of 6-months.

You will be responsible month end process, closing ledger, reconciliation, general financial issues, review and approvals, financial control type aspects, whilst managing a team of 8 in India who support with most of the heavy lifting.

The main purpose of this role is to:

  • Providing technical accounting, regulatory and tax reporting support;
  • Support the team in all areas of financial reporting, as required;
  • Deputising for the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO).

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Internal: Board of Directors and senior management of the entity; HSBC Group;
  • External: Regulators (PRA and FCA);
  • Understands the importance of connecting, works well with others and supports colleagues;
  • Will coach and educate both their colleagues and the business, as a subject matter expert; Build relationships with key stakeholders.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Provide management support to the team (onshore and offshore);
  • Deputising for the CAO, as required.
  • Accepts the continuing need to be flexible and takes a practical / supportive approach;
  • Response positively to change.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Qualified accountant;
  • Keeping abreast of rapidly changing statutory and regulatory insurance reporting requirements, dictated by regulators, continually reviewing and updating processes to ensure that the highest standards of control and integrity are maintained;
  • Understanding of the UK insurance market and associated statutory and regulatory reporting;
  • Awareness of the main methods/techniques used for accounting within insurance;
  • Ability to integrate development activity, arising as a consequence of constant business / regulatory change, smoothly into business as usual processes;
  • Understanding and communicating highly complex financial management issues to a management team in a manner that facilitates effective decision-making
