Job description

An international Financial Services Group, listed on the London Stock Exchange, is currently hiring for a senior financial controller to lead in the financial control function.

Supporting the Head of Finance with implementing and maintaining a robust financial controls environment, you will take complete ownership for the month end processes for the division, covering multiple entities across the UK and EMEA.

You will also play a key role in driving the automation and improvement of financial controls and processes. As the business continues to move away from an Excel-heavy environment you will take the lead in delivering efficiency in reporting and maintaining an automated function.

Leading a team of qualified accountants, you will provide oversight and guidance as well as upskilling in the right areas. Making sure that reporting is accurate and efficient and relevant MI is provided to key business stakeholders.

• Responsibility for accurate and timely month end close of regulated and trading legal entities
• Balance sheet substantiation, inter-company accounts, costs and tax analysis
• Maintenance of risk and controls frameworks
• Ensure all entities are closed in line with deadlines, and accounts prepared in line with IFRS and group policies
• Ownership of financial performance reporting across business divisions
• Supervise the controls team, providing leadership and direction whilst maintaining morale and development.
• Prepare monthly journal entries in the GLincFX, prepaid, accruals and inter company
• Deliver improvements to existing financial control processes and procedures as well as efficiencies in reporting
• Year end reporting including preparation of year-end files
• Establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders across Finance and wider divisions.
• All staff have a risk responsibility which is additional in the case of line managers.

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a number of years PQE within a Financial Services business. A self motivated and resilient approach will be key as well as a nurturing and personable manner when developing staff.

Previous track record of delivering change and improvements in financial controls is essential as well as a strong attention to detail, and in depth knowledge of "what good looks like" in financial control and strong systems and tech skills (Excel, Oracle, OneStreametc)
