Our Investment teams are grouped under: Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Assets and Alternatives.Overview of the roleYou will support the Head of Front Office Controls & Governance, and indirectly the Investment Management Leadership, to deliver and maintain an effective governance framework within the Investment Management department, directly supporting the Chief Investment Officer, Global Head of Fixed Income, Co-Heads of Equities, Global Head of Multi-Asset Alternatives, Global Head of Investment Risk and the Global Head of Investment Services, also known as the Investment Management leadership team ("the leadership team").You will contribute to the ongoing administration and oversight of the Investment Management governance arrangements i.e., the committees, forums and processes which ensure that risks inherent to the department are handled in line with the department's risk appetite.You will have opportunities to actively engage with and support a broad range of stakeholders at all levels globally and as a result broaden relationships and partnerships across different functions within the business.Duties and responsibilitiesYou will:Governance AdministrationSupport the Head of Front Office Controls and Governance and the IM Leadership team in the ongoing maintenance of the governance arrangements in place across the business units and, where applicable, support the business to establish new and/or enhanced governance mechanisms to raise, handle and manage the risks inherent to the department activitiesProvide secretariat support to the meeting Chair(s) i.e. meeting materials preparation, collation and distribution, meeting minutes production, tracking of actions, documentation of decisions and issues, maintenance of terms of reference/chartersAttend governance meetings, where applicable and requested to do so, to provide analysis and inputs to contribute to the discussions and decision making processMaintain the governance records (meeting packs, minutes etc.) on the central repository for in scope Investment Management Committees and available to be evidenced for internal and external reviews, topic based or related to governance.Management Information & ReportingDrive the implementation and maintenance of Key Indicators / Management Information to equip the leadership team with tools and mechanisms e.g. dashboards enabling a proactive assessment and monitoring of risk exposures vs. the department and/or firm's risk appetite statementHandle and oversee the collation and documentation of Management Information / Key Indicators relevant to the Investment Management department and quality check the information provided to support insightful reporting to the leadership teamRegularly and proactively monitor and, where applicable, escalate any concerns regarding increases in risk exposures and potential risk appetite breaches. Where appropriate, support the leadership team in the articulation of remediation plans/actionsContribute to Key Indicators commentaries to support the reporting of the risk appetite dashboard to the Board Risk CommitteeInternal Controls ManagementMain responsibilities will be design and operation of the suite of side-by-side control design and operation. Controls will be assigned based on overall team deliverables.Produce and provide accurate MI and presentation decks for reporting, governance, discussions the team is engaged in or proposals the team is drivingEnsure design and operating effectiveness of the controls assigned to you and be proactive in closing gaps or improving design / operating effectiveness.Project manage and deliver enhancements or improvements of controls assigned to youMaintain accurate procedure documents for controls you are responsible forTake minutes for meetings as necessary, or to support your colleagues who may be running the meetingWork on various projects with internal and external stakeholders, including automating controls, driving system functionality enhancements, and creating dashboards to track and monitor control MI and effectivenessWork closely with the Head of the FOCG team, 2nd line of defense teams including Compliance, Investment Risk and Finance Risk, and the investment teams across asset classesEngage with portfolio managers and partner with a wide range of senior stakeholders, taking the time to understand the nuances of the businesses and emerging risk typesHelp coordinate and respond in a timely manner to regulatory reporting, internal audit and compliance monitoring activitiesIdentify opportunities and take responsibility for initiatives that contribute to the success of JHI FOCG capabilitiesWhere required, develop knowledge base and skills to operate controls and contribute actively and meaningfully to control design and enhancementsSupervisory responsibilitiesNoTechnical skills and qualificationsEducated to degree level with relevant industry experienceProfessional qualification preferred but not essential e.g. IMC, CFA, CISIVery good understanding of the financial services industry; asset management experience preferred.
