Our Investment teams are grouped under: Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Assets and Alternatives.Overview of the roleYou will work as part of the Front Office Controls & Governance team. The focus of this team is to support the Investment Management Leadership team in managing operational risk within the Front Office and maintaining a robust control framework. The team is structured to do control operation and enhancement as well as reporting and governance.As a Front Office Controls & Governance Associate you will help support the Head of Front Office Controls & Governance and indirectly the Investment Management Leadership, to deliver and maintain an effective governance framework within the Investment Management department, directly supporting the Chief Investment Officer, Global Head of Fixed Income, Co-Heads of Equities, Global Head of Multi-Asset Alternatives, Global Head of Investment Risk and the Global Head of Investment Services, also known as the Investment Management leadership team ("the leadership team").You will contribute to the ongoing administration and oversight of the Investment Management governance arrangements i.e., the committees, forums and processes which ensure that risks inherent to the department are handled in line with the department's risk appetite.You will have opportunities to actively engage with and support a broad range of stakeholders at all levels globally and as a result broaden relationships and partnerships across different functions within the business.The role would be suited to an individual who is keen to develop a comprehensive understanding of asset management and its underlying operations. Experience in the team will enable the person to develop an understanding of the overall risk and governance picture. The ideal candidate would possess the technical skills to manipulate and interrogate large volumes of portfolio data and learn to or can proactively analyse and interpret data and discuss it with team members and stakeholders outside the team.The candidate should have foundational understanding of the operational landscape of an asset management firm spanning multiple asset classes. Knowledge of order management systems, execution platforms, the trade life cycle and execution management / strategies, portfolio metrics such as turnover / AUM and performance would be beneficial but are not necessary and can be developed on the job.Duties and responsibilitiesYou will:Governance AdministrationWork with the Front Office Controls and Governance Analyst to support the Head of Front Office Controls & Governance and the IM Leadership team in the ongoing maintenance of the governance arrangements in place across the business units and,Learn to prepare MI for these tasks to support reporting at various governance meetingsProvide supporting data analysis and deck preparation for discussions the team is engaged in or proposals the team is drivingProvide support to the meeting Chair(s) i.e., meeting materials preparation, collation and distribution, meeting minutes production, proactive tracking of actions, documentation of decisions and issues, maintenance of terms of reference/chartersYou may be required to attend governance meetings, where applicable and requested to do so, to provide analysis and inputs to contribute to the discussions and decision-making processMaintain the governance records (meeting packs, minutes etc.) on the central repository for in scope Investment Management Committees and available to be evidenced for internal and external reviews, topic based or related to governance.Management Information & ReportingSupport the implementation and maintenance of Key Indicators / Management Information to equip the leadership team with tools and mechanisms e.g. dashboards enabling a proactive assessment and monitoring of risk exposures vs. the department and/or firm's risk appetite statementHandle the collation and documentation of Management Information / Key Indicators relevant to the Investment Management department and quality check the information provided to support insightful reporting to the leadership teamContribute to Key Indicator commentaries to support the reporting of the risk appetite dashboard to the Board Risk CommitteeInternal Controls ManagementWork closely with the Head of the FOCG team, 2nd line of defense teams including Compliance, Investment Risk and Finance Risk, and the investment teams across asset classes, to operate and ensure design and operating effectiveness of the controls assigned to you Maintain accurate procedure documents for the controls you are responsible for Support project management and delivery of enhancements or improvements of control Work on various data projects with internal and external stakeholders, including automating data, driving requirements to enhance systems functionality and creating dashboard to track and monitor control effectiveness Engage with portfolio managers and partner with a wide range of senior stakeholders, taking the time to understand the nuances of the businesses and emerging risk types Help coordinate and respond in a timely manner to regulatory reporting, internal audit and compliance monitoring activities Identify opportunities and take responsibility for initiatives that contribute to the success of JHI FOCG capabilitiesSupervisory responsibilitiesNoTechnical skills and qualificationsInterest in developing a strong understanding of what the investment team (PM and traders) are trying to achieve and the potential processes to make that happenDegree educated in business, mathematics, finance, computer science, data science or sustainability discipline, or relevant/equivalent work experience is preferredStrong data management and/or quantitative background with ability to manipulate large populations of data, preference for Python or similar languageUnderstanding of risk management methodologies and techniques, or openness to learning theseExperience interacting with a wide selection of front and middle/back office areas would be beneficialCompetencies requiredIn addition to
