Job description
What our client is looking for:
- A good foundation of experience as a corporate credit analyst at a recognised financial institution or rating agency.
- Good product knowledge, syndicated loans, Bilterals, guarantees, Derivatives, Trade Finance & Leasing.
- Some familiarity with Leverage Finance would be helpful (but not essential)
- Previous or some coverage in any of the following areas would be nice to have (but not essential): Oil & Gas, Mining, Pharma, Manufacturing, TMT, REITS, Utilities, Retail, Business Services & Consumer
About the role:
- The role of the Front Office Credit Analyst exists to manage the bank's assets within its own risk management framework in compliance with all external regulation, helping to protect the bank from losses resulting from customer defaults.
- The Front Office Credit Analyst upholds the first line of defence for the credit risk management of a portfolio of new and existing corporate customers, in line with the bank's policy and procedures.
- The Front Office Credit Analyst conducts the review of corporate credit risk and recommends accurate obligor and facility grades, so that the bank can allocate the correct amount of regulatory capital.
Responsibilities and additional information:
- Primary products cover vanilla Syndicated and Bi-Lateral Loans (including M&A), Derivatives (Swaps, FX), Trade Services and Leasing.
- Assisting the Coverage team with new and existing transactions including structuring, and negotiating credit analysis, documentation review.
- Participating in Request for Consideration meetings to assess new pipeline business and presents credit opinion to the senior manager.
- Liasing with appropriate stakeholders including Credit department, Loan Capital Markets and Securities, Corporate Research Depts.
- Preparing credit applications for submission to Credit Department to include detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of the credit risk of an obligor, including forward looking projections, and transaction analysis.
- Responsible for the continuous monitoring of an assigned portfolio of corporate credit customers, taking timely actions if there is any deterioration in the banks risk, including working on Special Credits.
Credit Quality:
- Preparation of good quality and succinct credit applications including financial analysis, projections, industry & peer analysis in order to recommend the correct obligor & facility grade to the Head of Credit.
- Review of loan/ISDA terms & conditions to ensure that the bank's risk is minimised wherever possible.
- Supporting senior staff as part of deal teams to uphold the bank's value of Customer First & Speed.
- Maintaining good stakeholder engagement with key partners around the organisation, particularly Relationship Managers & Credit Department to facilitate the smooth process of the credit approval process.
- Support the Head of Credit Special Credit Reviews in order to minimize losses to the bank.
Credit Processes:
- Exercising timely review of an assigned portfolio in line with all internal policies and procedures to ensure that the bank is always in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Maintaining the bank's systems and the internal grading tool to ensure compliance with all procedures.
- Participate in ad hoc project related tasks as the business needs.
Experience and skills required:
- Degree level of education and / or relevant professional qualifications and a track record of continuous learning.
- A good level of past experience as a corporate credit analyst at a recognised financial institution or rating agency.
- Good spread of sector knowledge in one or more of the following sectors, Oil & Gas, Mining, Pharma, Manufacturing, TMT, REITS, Utilities, Retail, Business Services & Consumer.
- Good product knowledge, syndicated loans, Bilterals, guarantees, Derivatives, Trade Finance & Leasing.
- Some familiarity with Leverage Finance.
- Familiarity with legal documentation including LMA and bond documentation, ISDAs, CSAs, netting and credit mitigating features.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills including financial forecasting to be able to identify and mitigate business and financial risk.
- Strong written and verbal skills to be able to succinctly articulate the credit both in writing and face to face.
- Extensive working knowledge of Excel (financial modelling) and Word.
- Have strong interpersonal skills engaging with key stakeholders at all levels.
- Be a good team player willing to work in deal teams at short notice.
