Job description

Principal Responsibilities

• Responsible for generation of global macroeconomic forecasts (growth, inflation, unemployment, budget balances, current accounts, FX rates, monetary policy rates, government bond yields, floating rate benchmarks for the US, the Eurozone, the UK, China, Japan and India, as well as other countries as guided by business needs and instructed by Line Managers), as well as development, in line of best market practices and modern techniques, and support, in a readily shareable form, of the model toolbox used to arrive at numerical conclusions, as well as being familiar with the global trends in the financial sector, including regulatory environment.
• Responsible for providing forecast updates, communicating those to Research and Trading, preparing and delivering in-person and remote client presentations and other events on an as-needed basis for other teams at Research, for group-wide business planning at VTB, for institutional buy-side clients, for corporate clients as requested by coverage bankers (CIB or Medium Business), participating in WIM marketing events or preparation of WIM marketing materials, as well as activities organized by PR or Events or third-party organizers to support VTBC's franchise
• Responsible for preparing and publication of a public sell-side regular product on global macro themes
• Responsible for the analytical support of the top management when it is speaking or publishing comments on global issues.

Key Competencies & Qualifications

• Proven academic track record at top tier research institution - preferably PhD with published research or working papers
• Demonstrable modelling and macroeconomic forecasting skills, especially in areas of monetary policy, yield curve modelling and FX forecasting
• Excellent presentational skills, ability to break down complex ideas into simpler pieces and communicating them to non-technical audiences with a requisite degree of detail and sophistication
• Good experience in analysing financial markets working at high level financial institutions, ideally an established role working as an economist and/or strategist in global macro areas
• Publicity and presentation skills necessary for speaking for VTB Capital to financial and generic media
