ActionAid UK is a member of the ActionAid Federation, an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty.

As part of the ActionAid Federation, we work with women and girls, our partners, and dedicated staff in 43 countries to end violence and fight poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

The Head of Internal Audit is a key role in ActionAid reporting to the Chief Executive and Treasurer. We are looking for a qualified accountant who can make a positive impact on the control environment, through the provision of internal audits, and consultancy/advice to key stakeholders. They will contribute to the effectiveness of the control environment within which ActionAid operates, by working with a wide variety of stakeholders across all operations, both management and our trustees.

We are looking for an individual who can add real value by identifying areas of improvement, and working with the management team to develop workable, solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on internal auditor who can work independently with a wide variety of stakeholders, within the UK and globally.

Working to enhance the controls environment within which the organisation operates, the ideal candidate will have significant experience of working at a senior level with management and trustees, and have a proven track record of adding value through audit and advisory services.

You will have experience of managing an internal audit function preferably in a complex organisation and a proven ability to communicate succinctly with directors and trustees. You will also have a willingness to travel and work independently.

ActionAid is committed to driving improvement through digital channels, tools and ways of working. We will ensure that we provide the technology and the training to enable all staff to perform their roles to the best of their abilities. In return, we ask that all staff are committed to continually improving their digital skills and knowledge within the working environment. Our recruitment processes will evaluate the digital skills of all applicants.

ActionAid is committed to supporting flexible working. If you would like to discuss flexible working options, including the possibility of a job share for this role, there will be space to do so during the interview process.
