Job description

This is a great opportunity to lead Muscular Dystrophy UK's health policy and new treatment approval activities. You will lead our work to influence national policy development and implementation to improve health services for people living with a muscle-wasting condition, their carers and families. You will work with the Head of Policy and Campaigns to set the strategy for policy prioritisation within the context of our organisation's ambitions. You will oversee a programme of policy work including ensuring the delivery of high-quality consultation responses, policy positions and reports.

The successful candidate should have:

Understanding of and proven experience of campaigning and influencing government, decision makers and public policy at every level, preferably in the health and disability sector

Understanding of UK governments and parliaments, and how to influence on both devolved and reserved issues

Expectations in the role

Work with networks of specialist health professionals and people living with a muscle-wasting condition to create national and regional health policy work programmes
Build and manage relationships with key relevant policy community stakeholders including healthcare professionals, academics, think tanks, charities, parliamentarians, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and other stakeholders
Represent Muscular Dystrophy UK on relevant external groups and at meetings and events

Location

This role is based at our office in Southwark, London with flexibility for home working (3 days per week).
