About the role

Housing First is a new approach to supporting the most entrenched, excluded and hard to reach clients. It focuses on finding permanent housing as quickly as possible and then addressing the issues that have contributed to an individual's homelessness. Rather than follow the traditional routes of hostels and supported housing, Housing First offers people their own home and then gives them the intensive support needed to maintain their tenancies and move on with their lives away from the streets or hostels. This service is typically for prolific rough sleepers with multiple needs or those who otherwise get stuck in first stage accommodation services.

In this role you:

Are responsible for the day to day delivery of the service, managing a small caseload of clients with the overall goal of supporting them to sustain a new tenancy

Manage your own caseload and hours, requiring excellent time management skills, a proactive approach to your work and the ability to prioritise

Provide tailored support to clients to meet individual need and aspiration, with clients being able to choose, as far as possible, what, how and when support is delivered.

Deliver ongoing and intensive support to help your clients set up their home and maintain their tenancy. You will offer support over treatment and other issues assertively, however this engagement will be optional for clients

Support will be offered in the tenant's homes as well as in the community.

Core hours are 9-5, Monday-Friday, however, flexibility is required as the post-holder will be expected to work some bank holidays.

What we're looking for

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative service. As part of a small team, with low individual caseloads, to succeed you will be able to work independently and be comfortable as a lone worker when required, with a good knowledge of the relevant protocols and safety precautions. You'll be able to maintain enthusiasm for working with a challenging client-group, and provide the consistently high levels of support they require to meet their aims and objectives.

Pay and Other Benefits

St Mungo's is proud to pay client facing staff above average for the sector. We run a cycle to work scheme and also offer season tickets loans to all staff.

St Mungo's contribute 4% of your gross annual salary, and you are able to enrol in the Defined Contribution scheme following a successful probationary period in which the employer contribution is 6%.
