RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
YOUR IMPACT

The Regional Medical Director will report directly to the Goldman Sachs Global Medical Director. This person will work in partnership with the Goldman Sachs Benefits and Wellness leadership teams and the operators of our on-site health centers and medical case management functions to provide oversight for the firm on matters of medical policy, strategy, standards and practice.
The main areas of job responsibilities may be divided into clinical and strategic roles. Critical duties include leading the regional business continuity response from a clinical perspective (e.g., Covid-19 pandemic), serving as central point of contact and advisor for the business for all health related issues, collaborating with the local Wellness and Benefits teams to promote better health and well-being, and providing oversight all current Health Services offered by the firm

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

Clinical Duties

  • Serve as functional physician manager for region's clinical teams and the vendors that employ and oversee them, ensuring they adhere to clinical best practices and all local regulatory requirements. The regional medical director may need to provide direct consultation on occasion and will do so in accordance with all local laws and in collaboration with vendor protocols
  • Provide regional clinical guidance and oversight for environmental health related issues such as communicable diseases, air quality or other environmental concerns, liaising with health center and occupational health clinical teams, corporate real estate and the firm's environmental specialist, among others, to ensure appropriate analysis is conducted and response plan is developed and executed
  • Set clear strategy and goals for occupational health and disability management services that are evidenced-based; ensure highest level of governance, controls and risk management that align with goals and objectives of the firm. Provide clinical guidance to local occupational health teams in collaboration with Global Medical Director
  • Provide point of contact for escalation of all clinical services (e.g., occupational health, mental health support, patient advocacy, ergonomics, health centers) to manage stakeholders within the firm and Human Capital Management (the firm's human resources function) for issues such as emergency response, mental health crises, policy approvals and exceptions
  • Coordinate medical support for international meetings in their region by Goldman Sachs management by working with ISOS, the firm's Executive Office, Office of Global Security, and Events Management groups
    Under certain limited circumstances, provide direct clinical care to employees and senior leadership (e.g., international meeting described above)
  • Provide clinical input to healthcare plan design and support clinical review of claims escalations in coordination with benefits team
  • In conjunction with the vendors, evaluate individual practitioner clinical performance and performance related to provision of care and service
  • Review and approve all standard operating procedures and protocols submitted by vendors providing medical services to the firm
Strategy
  • In collaboration with the Global Medical Director, provide strategic guidance and support on regional pandemic planning initiatives including regular surveillance, trend analysis, and review of response plans, firm policies and procedures, trigger based action plan and supply distribution plans. Act as regional clinical lead and key medical advisor for the firm during a crisis
  • Work with Benefits and Wellness leadership to develop population health management strategy
    • Identify medical trends in employee populations and develop strategies to effectively manage conditions to improve health, well-being and productivity
    • Establish strategy to assess current employee health and wellness data and effectiveness of current and future programming; development of ROI and VOI metrics
    • Implementation of incentives, health assessment, screenings, and lifestyle / disease management strategies if appropriate
    • Identify integration opportunities between onsite Wellness offerings and insurance/health plan benefits
  • Provide regional strategy for the 4 key Health Services: Health Centers, Occupational Health, Critical Health Solutions (firm's medical advocacy program), and Resilience / Mental Health, including vendor oversight, expansion of services, and program innovation
  • Liaise with Goldman Sachs vendor physicians, nurses, managers and health organizations globally to establish and coordinate clinical programs, corporate objectives, medical policies and strategies
  • Provide clinical insight and recommendations in various vendor management and vendor selection activities across Benefits and Wellness
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Communication Skills -excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills with ability to lead meetings, create strategy documents and present to key stakeholders
  • Relationship Building - ability work effectively with others including consultants, vendor partners, external and internal stakeholders and senior leaders (stakeholder engagement)
  • Results Orientated - ability to achieve results and maintain a high level of productivity on numerous cross-functional projects and initiatives
  • Project Management - ability to lead and manage multiple multi-faceted projects from conception to execution
  • People Development - ability to mentor and develop others

Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum educational requirement: MD degree or local equivalent
  • Board Certified in Family Practice, Internal Medicine and/or Occupational Health.
  • 3 - 5 years minimum in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Department, Ambulatory Care, or Occupational Health settings.
  • Minimum 3 years of management/leadership experience within the healthcare industry or corporate environmen
  • Experience as medical director in a corporate setting preferred
  • Ability to be licensed to practice medicine in each region's state/country that Goldman Sachs maintains major business offices.
