Infrastructure Analyst

Reporting of the Role

This role reports to the Network Operations Manager.


Overview of job

We're looking for an Infrastructure Analyst to join a busy and capable Infrastructure Team that maintains the backbone of Global's Audio, Outdoor and Digital operations.

Measures of success -

In the first few months, you would have

  • Familiarised yourself with configuring, upgrading and building a switch
  • Had exposure to broadcast engineering and understand the basics of how we broadcast to all our platforms
  • Understand how the Outdoor network is architected and how an advert reaches a billboard
  • Visited at least one of out colocation facilities
  • Familiarised yourself with both London locations
  • Managed incidents and change in ServiceNow
  • Spend a day with the Cyber team to understand how we manage Cyber risk

Responsibilities of the role

This is an exciting and varied role working on systems that underpin the corporate networks, collaboration and hosting environments on premise and in the cloud.

The network we run supports our Radio output as well as connectivity to our Outdoor Digital signage estate. We maintain and configure all the internet connected services that support Global Player and our Web Hosting environment.

  • You'll be documenting and implementing projects under the guidance of the Network and Security Teams.
  • You will be integral in advancing automation processes within the Infrastructure team.
  • You will be supporting the specialists within the team to build, scale and evolve the infrastructure at Global nationally and internationally.
  • You'll be working alongside software developers, broadcast engineers and support analysts. You'll use service management techniques to resolve incidents and manage change.
  • You will need to build effective working relationships throughout the business. There may be occasional travel to our UK broadcast centres. You will be required to participate in occasional events or emergency support outside of office hours.


What you will need

The ideal candidate will be passionate, proactive and have an innate ability to fault find and provide detailed feedback during incidents whilst balancing project work.

You will have a good understanding of the following:

  • Relevant experience in scripting and automation
  • A working knowledge of Networking/ISP peering topics
  • Experience of TCP/IP and the OSI model
  • A good understanding of Python would be beneficial
  • The ability to think creatively and see the bigger picture
  • Vision to spot potential issues and contribute to problem solving
  • Great communication skills
  • Passion for new technology
  • Boundless enthusiasm and dedication
  • Highly organised with a great attention to detail
  • Comfortable working alone on projects or being part of a team
