About Us:
Build on your interest in insurance and the law through hands-on learning.
In Kensington and Chelsea, we put local people and local businesses at the heart of decision-making, working in partnership with them to provide quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient. When things go wrong, we aim to put them right, and we are comprehensively insured against a variety of liabilities, from subsidence caused by tree roots, to trips and slips in our streets, to accidents at work. Unusually for a local authority, we handle our own claims, and also provide an insurance service for the nearby boroughs of Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham.
The Role:
This is an ideal training opportunity for someone who is keen to grow their experience in insurance or the law. Working alongside our expert team, you wiIl learn how to carry out insurance investigations to determine our legal liabilities. Expect to be involved in site visits and other evidence gathering. You will also make assessment of damages and negotiate with third-party legal representatives over settlements and legal costs, and there is some opportunity for conference and court work. It's a fast-moving environment offering a huge variety of experience but, at every step, you'll put residents first and ensure they receive a good level of service.
Please refer to the Job Description for more information.
About You:
Prior legal experience is not essential, but some knowledge of the law or insurance would be helpful. More important is your willingness to learn on the job and grasp new information quickly. You'll need a good level of education (or equivalent experience) and excellent communication, investigation and negotiation skills. The ability to accurately follow guidelines is vital. Well-organised, you'll be capable of prioritising your own workload, multi-tasking and meeting deadlines. Do well and you'll have excellent prospects, including the opportunity to gain professional qualifications.
In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV's alone will not be considered for this role.
