Java Analyst Developer - Remote working/Borehamwood - Permanent role - Salary between £45 to £50k DOE, plus flexible benefits

Leading IT Consultancy with offices in UK and Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, and Switzerland) is looking to recruit a permanent Java Analyst Developer. We deliver a range of software solutions and services including IT Consultancy, Software Development and Application Support Services for our corporate clients covering Insurance, Retail, FMCG, Cash-in-Transit, Automotive, Logistics & Leasing, Publishing and Charity domains (including UN organizations) which are well-known names.

The role is permanent and will be split between Working from Home and occasional travelling (2 days per week) at our office in Borehamwood.

The successful Java Analyst Developer will join an established and experienced Managed Services team. The role includes an interesting mix of Agile Application Development and Support work of a portfolio of Java touch screen Self Service and Web applications for our UK and International client base. We pride ourselves in employing high calibre consultants and software engineers and this is a great opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced Java Consultants around.

Responsibilities:

Main responsibilities of the successful Java Analyst Developer:

• Java desktop and Web application development including greenfield development and enhancement of existing portfolio of Cash Management solutions;
• Analysis of new customer requirements and contributing to solution designs;
• Quality assurance including peer reviews, Unit and Integration testing;
• Root cause investigation of Support incidents and implementation of code fixes and improvements;
• Technology stack upgrades;
• Release management including source control, documentation and go-live;
• Attending and contributing to Agile project meetings and regular team operational meetings.

Key Skills required:

Preferred skills

• Minimum of 3 years of commercial experience in Java and database application development and application support (mandatory);
• An IT related degree or similar qualification;
• Technical Knowledge: core Java, Java Swing, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Thymeleaf, Hibernate, MySQL, Web technologies, XML, Web Services, REST API, JSON, Eclipse, Subversion/GIT and Kafka;
• Strong communicator, who is able to speak about technical matters in non-technical (plain) English;
• Flexible, can-do attitude, capable of multitasking, structured and works well within a team environment;
• Critical thinker, problem-solving and have time-management skills;
• Motivated, self-starter, self-reliant, and ambitious.

Nice to have skills

Technical Knowledge:

• JavaFX, JBOSS, AWS, Docker, C++, JSON Web Token, OAuth 2.0, JQuery, Shell/BASH, PHP, and Unix/Linux environment;
• Exposure to Retail point-of-sale and Cash management systems (desirable);
• Ability to hit the ground running (previous experience working on your own) as well as part of a team would be a great advantage.
