Job description

There is an opportunity for a Java Engineer to join a dynamic team and extend a key integration application with the latest technologies.

You will be part of our existing Fixed Income and Currencies delivery team, and you will be extending the application to support new products, workflows and controls to ensure the application can serve a greater number of business outcomes. You will directly support the business to help achieve their outcomes. You will bring your experience with Java and modern tooling to iteratively deliver capabilities.

You will be responsible for the design, development and testing of this application and deliver incrementally in iterative cycles. You will have a keen interest in financial markets and want to work closely with the business. You will have an Agile mindset and keen interest in software engineering across a range of technologies. You will be a self-motivated team player with great communication skills.

To excel in this role, you will ideally have experience with:

  • Core Java development including data structures, algorithms and threading
  • Experience in working in an Agile delivery team
  • A fundamental understanding of electronic markets
  • Experience with web technologies
  • Experience with operational/delivery tools like Bash and associated tools

It would be a bonus if you bring:
  • Experience with Scala including the Akka library
  • Experience with tools like maven, docker, version control and automated build tools
  • Experience with Angular
  • AWS or other cloud-based deployments
