Roc Search have partnered with A young, dynamic organisation, which is the software division of a much larger Print company in London. Their flagship product is is currently used by a leading UK retailer as well as several of their partner organisations. They are currently focusing on the development, maintenance and evolution of their prized marketing retail management solution, with a goal of expanding our footprint in this space.

They are looking for a Lead Software Developer to join the team on a permanent basis. The role will have a range of responsibilities, but the main deliverables for this role will involve technical leadership and ownership of the advancement and maintenance of their flagship product. Other deliverables include managing the underlying infrastructure for deployed environments and ownership of releases; day-to-day management of the dev team; liaising with the Product Owner on feature and change requests; as well as reviewing and maintaining coding standards for all code being checked in to the solution to minimise bugs and technical debt.

The Lead Developer will further take ownership of investigating how proposed changes and feature requests can be integrated into the system and provide guidance on the timelines and risks around these. They will keep on top of the latest technologies and understand how they could be applied to strengthen the solution. A background in or good knowledge of software architecture would be beneficial to the role.

Familiarity with most of the below tech stack would be ideal as it is what they use;

Responsibilities of the role include the following:

• Analyse current technologies used within the solution and determine ways to improve and upgrade their implementation.

• Devise a technical roadmap based on the above analysis to operationalise scaling of the solution.

• Provide technical specifications to give direction to stakeholders and development team.

• Work with larger IT team to ensure hardware/cloud infrastructure is available for the solution to work properly.

• Liaise with Product Owner regarding roadmap challenges; provide assessments on risk, time, resource allocation and scope; monitor progress of updates with Product Owner.

Team management and solution design:

• Provide guidance to software developers in the team about how to deliver optimal solutions to tasks.

• End-to-end design of new applications.

• Managing product timelines and tasks with Product Owner.

• Creating and owning technical documents for solution advancements, solution management and development tools.

• Training staff on development tools and new patterns.

• Be responsible for the success of the engineering team.

The role is paying circa 85k-100k DOE
